Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Not with 3 years left on his contract and a chairman with a backbone

What happens if we are able to buy a gem and this time next season Madrid wants that diamond as well?

Levy needs to grow a pair and say no, at least not this season

But Naja , if the player wants out , he's not going to give you anywhere near like his previous performances . His contract will depreciate by another year as will his selling on fee .
We're dealing with an investment company here first and foremost.

Re: Gareth Bale

I think the talks about him signing a new contract came too quickly after the end of the season. He should have signed it by now. If he doesnt sign, then this will carry on.

To be honest, there is probably a new contract offered, There is interest from Madrid, and the player is probably 50/50 giving himself time to decide.

Re: Gareth Bale

Maybe waiting for Real to announce a new coach to start with... They want Ancelotti but PSG are holding him.

The fact Mourinho is gone, might work in our favour, they all want to work under him.

Re: Gareth Bale

Im sure Lewis and Levy will make the right financial decision thats maximises the biggest return for their investment

if i was a footballer id rather work for Ancelotti than Mourinho

Re: Gareth Bale

We're not going to be able to replace Bale in the future with someone as good but look at Arsenal, they are a stronger side without Van Persie, as they strengthened overall.

My prefeernce is for Bale to stay but our over reliance on him is worrying, few too many players consistently stepped up last season and seemed happy for Bale to work his magic and even he was erratic at times. I'll be expecting a lot more from players like Dembele, Holtby, Lennon and Sigurdsson next season, I just don't want to see us having to look to Bale every time we need something to happen. If we sell him we'll lose a fantastic player, but if the money is reinvested wisely we could be an all round stronger team which may give others more opportunity to impress.

Re: Gareth Bale

maybe Lewis can buy a bigger boat with the Bale money...important factor when the final decision is made

Re: Gareth Bale

The stuff Levy says about not selling our best players in part of his negotiating tactics, nothing more. Levy's main fault is trying to do things on the cheap and not doing enough to match the ambition of the likes of Modric and Bale. Why not give it a proper go last season and bring in the quality we needed?

If it goes wrong and we miss out on CL riches then Bale's departure more than offsets any losses anyway. It's been mentioned so many times, but the Jan window was a disaster for us and now we risk falling away from that top group of clubs.

The problem is we're run by for profit by fairly risk averse owners. Not dissimilar to Arsenal but they're operating with a higher level of finances. Always doing just enough for CL qualification but never taking on enough risk to mount a serious title challenge.

Re: Gareth Bale

I wouldn't say they're stronger without Van Persie tbh.

There wasn't a reliance on him for goals. They could afford to have injuries and continue winning. They had better strength in depth, and an argument which doesn't mean much to you, but they got more points than last season too. Maybe not stronger but they haven't necessarily got weaker as a result of decent signings coming in.

Re: Gareth Bale

well I think most of us are 'prepared' for this.

I dont know the ins/outs of this BT contract or how his missus might feel about uprooting to spain with a newborn.......

either way we have to accept this is REAL FACKIN MADRID who 99.9% of the time get whatever they WANT!!!!!

if Bale wants to leave we cant fanny around we must stick to 70mil say it must be done mid june or he remains at spurs.

I think AVB & LEVY are prepared for this.....Madrid will do all they can to unsettle and then just before elections that TOAD perex will come in hard with a bid.

we must be willing to accept he wont grace us in the lillywhite shirt ever again he has simply evolved into an elite player and unfortunatley we are not an elite club......were a great club but nowhere near madrids level.

I wont be mad at bale and i dont think he will act like a tit......either way he gave us everything last season and no spurs fan in my mind could deny that he deserves his place amongst the elite challenging for titles and champs league trophy.

Levy's been prepared for this ever since Luka handed in a transfer request. Is good at stomping his foot down and forcing players to stay but doesn't do nearly enough to ensure situations like these stop happening.

yep that would be my gripe with him though I think he's done alot of good.

what psses me off is we will prob never find out how well we could do with Bale and a striker who can .....whats the words..........movement and actually score goals.

I think the crime of not doing something about the striker situation is his er biggest crime.

Re: Gareth Bale

Real Madrid have given Tottenham a deadline to accept their bid for Gareth Bale, suggesting they may withdraw a significant bid if a deal is not reached in the coming weeks. The Daily Star reports Spurs have until June 15 to accept a mammoth £60 million offer for the 23-year-old as president Florentino Perez looks to recover from the club's failure to sign Barcelona-bound Neymar. It is believed Bale would suit Real's on and off field needs and Los Blancos are prepared to match the £130,000-a-week wages being offered by the north London club. If the Bale bid fails, Real will turn their attention to Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, although the Uruguayan is unlikely to leave Anfield.

Real Madrid is a joke club. For all the money they spend, how many trophies they have won in the last 5 years : 1 league title and 2 Spanish Cups. They won the league title last season only because of Mourinho. And now they have sacked Mourinho. They sacked Del Bosque who won them 2 CL trophies and they have not won it for 11 years now. Somone should tell them they cannot have stability to win trophies if they keep on chopping and changing players and managers every season. They should learn it from Barcelona who are more successfull in recent years because they have more stability since they always bring up their own players and managers. Barcelona have completely overshadowed Real since the emergence of Messi and will continue to do so in years to come. If Bale wants to win major trophies like CL, he should join Barcelona, not Real Madrid.
