Liam Payne's bust up with four Tottenham Hotspur players in nightclub

Im quite upset by all this in fact, the only down to being a football should be to have a every day work ethic and concentrate or you football until you are 35.

They are just not professionals and this is the reason they are not playing for a big club.

Walker should stay but the 3 others are just not good enough anyway.

I could have guessed the names of these 4 chumps without even reading the article. What does that say about these 4 that im not even suprised.

Ledley King was such a brick professional I suppose.

He was. World class player but not remotely 'professional'. How many pictures have you seen of Messi or Ronaldo or Aguero or Mata being helped of a club when they're tinkled?

You what I mean though, could use a spare morning to work on his fitness... Not being in bed hungover..

Exactly. And Lennon could go in on the morning off and work on his shooting and Walker on his crossing. Even if they weren't drinking it would be ridiculous to be out in the early hours rather than resting up before a massive game

As others have said, you could have guessed the names

AVB "You've got tomorrow morning off lads".

HUDD "won't somebody think of the fans??? I'm gonna come in and run up and down for a bit".

It is hilarious.

I can just assume those who are outraged have never gone for a few drinks the night before they have work. What perfect people they must be.

Lol... What a joke, theyre in their 20s, are we going to restrict them from the world the way we did with Michael Jackson?! Let them live! Quite frankly if they've got a day off then why not. When I have a day off I go for a pint if I bloody well like, its my human right.

Haha, exactly, some people don't love in the real world!

If they were reported to be bladdered then that's another matter, but it doesn't even suggest that, it's just a pr stunt for one direction!

These so called professionals should follow suit for 10 months of the year.

These 'so called professionals' need to be fit enough to do their jobs. Oh wait, they are. Otherwise they would be disciplined. So there is no problem really.

As for the 'players should go and spend extra time training', well. Maybe you people should go and spend extra time working at your careers if you are actually serious about them?

Footballers are human beings and they will act as such.

As for 'Why is it always the english players?!?! boo hoo!.' How often have you heard of our players getting tinkled and kicking up a fuss? Never. Hitting on a waitress is hardly kicking up a fuss.

You have your views and I have mine. For me this is just an example of the loser mentality instilled in this club. Take it easy, take the money and party. I bet AVB would get rid of them all if he could and bring in some professionals who strive to be as good as they possibly can be.

'Loser mentality'

I don't see the link. Footballers who drink have a loser mentality?

Damn Messi and Ronaldo for their loser mentalities!

Damn Ashley Cole and Drogba and the Chelsea players for their loser mentalities!

Damn Rooney too, caught smoking multiple times, however does he win all those titles with that loser mentality.

Edit: The chelsea lot are just the first example that came to mind.

I've seen Micah Richards out on a night out, buying drinks for his mates but not touching the stuff himself, genuinely quiet guy kept himself to himself. A lot of footballers are disciplined. It could be that these lads where treating their mates to drinks and staying teetotal. If they had been drinking there would have been a greater uproar made about it in the press. Lets use our heads guys,

Disciplined? Micah Richards that was arrested for assault outside a nightclub?

I'm not bothered if they had a few drinks. If they were rat-arsed it would be different.

This thread is ridiculously polarized, rarely have I found myself disagreeing with so many posts in a thread on here.

What works for you doesn't necessarily work for everyone else.

I don't think many clubs have zero-tolerance policies in place for alcohol. Clubs invest millions in players, sports science teams, fitness coaches, training grounds and physios. If a zero-tolerance policy was needed I think more clubs would be looking into getting them. In moderation, at appropriate times (like 5 days before a match, when there's no morning training session) some small amount of alcohol isn't going to impede performances.

Lol... What a joke, theyre in their 20s, are we going to restrict them from the world the way we did with Michael Jackson?! Let them live! Quite frankly if they've got a day off then why not. When I have a day off I go for a pint if I bloody well like, its my human right.

Human right... They are paid obscene amounts of money, part of what they get paid for is to be as physically fit as possible. That means that some of the "human rights" that you and i enjoy aren't available to them at all times. Not saying that there was a problem in this specific instance, but we have had players that have been out of line several times in the past and the culture when it comes to alcohol in British football is far from the best.

These 'so called professionals' need to be fit enough to do their jobs. Oh wait, they are. Otherwise they would be disciplined. So there is no problem really.

Once again, we don't know enough to know if there was a problem in this instance or not. But I don't think that the assumption that if they're not fit enough they would be disciplined holds up. It's not just about being "fit enough", it's about getting to a peak physical level. That means being rather careful with alcohol, as I hope our players have been in this instance, but as we know that has not always been the case in the past, not only at our club. That culture is changing I believe, but there's still a way to go.

The extra training thing I agree with you, it's a pretty ridiculous argument.

It is about being fit enough though. The players could always be fitter, you could always do more fitness training, you could always do more. There is no 'peak physical fitness' in my mind.

If you can run around the pitch and do whatever is required for 90 minutes, than you are fit enough. Being fitter than that is unlikely to give you an additional edge, barring games going to extra time.
