Another striker who scored goals for fun in his career picked up on the cheap and scored goals in the Prem. But we can't find strikers and there are no strikers out there apparently.
IF we sold Bale for say 60m...
I'd like to see us go for:
Andre Schurrle - 20m
Christian Benteke - 11m
Isco - 20m
various youngsters - 9m
We'd need Champs league to afford all the wages, but that would make our team 100 times better. Schurrle is the perfect fit for an inside-cutting LW in the 4-3-3, Benteke is an upgrade on what we have now, and Isco is a better/younger version of Moutinho.
Even if we don't sell Bale, I think Isco and a guy like Benteke is a must. We can't keep platooning Defoe and Ade (though if we're going to keep one it'd better be Defoe).
And in no way do I see Levy spending any significant amount on players around 27+ years of age. We need to invest in youth players like we did the Kyle's a few years back as well as Bale before them. I'm not expecting another Bale to come about anytime soon, but surely there's some high quality youngsters we could bring in that could help out in a few years time. Would absolutely love to see us bring some more speed into the team.

id look at Franco Di Santo on a free. Big, mobile, not prolific yet but has shown glimpses of quality. Might be a Sheringham type who gets better with age. Definite value there for someone like Levy.

We need some one prolific. We train 10+ goals a season out of our strikers.
If they ain't prolific before they come here then there ain't a chance of us improving them if the last 15 years is anything to go by.

Benteke cost Villa 8m, he's had a fantastic season and now they're going to sell him for 11m a year later?
Isco had a reported release clause of around £23m iirc, that was upped to around £35m when he signed a new contract I believe. That's just from memory though.
Schurrle seems unrealistic as bigger, richer clubs have been after him, Isco is equally unrealistic I think.

its all about the budget. We have no idea whether we are shopping at Harrods or at Debenhams. Along with the likes of Higuain, Damaio, Benteke etc im sure we will have a list with the likes of Hooper, Rhodes, Le Fondre etc
like i said, Di Santo isnt prolific right now but he could be one to snap up on a free and be one of the 3 forwards in the group

I wasn't aware that he would be available on a free transfer. I wouldn't mind him as part of a squad and a bit of a gamble that might pay off as long as we get someone in who is a clear first choice. He's always looked good when I've seen him, although as you say not prolific enough.
Say we could get something like £10m for Defoe whilst bringing in Di Santo on a free that would make us a tidy profit that could help us in our search for a new top class striker and central midfielder.
He was probably at Chelsea while AVB was there?

Centre back? Wonder who we'll sell if that comes to pass.
Personally don't think CB should be an area we're looking at. Kaboul, Dawson, Vertonghen and Caulker is enough.

I agree, and AVB has stated that we would be better off with just 4 centre backs. I don't really see the point in replacing Caulker with Dragovic and I don't think AVB will try to sell Dawson again this summer.

I generally don't watch the Championship so I'd never seen him before this season, he's been impressive though. His age is against him, but he isn't reliant on pace and it would seem that he has at least a couple of good seasons left in him.
I would be happy with us signing him for a reasonable price, the latter part of that seems very unlikely unless Southampton go down though.
