*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Le Saudi Sportswashing Machine - Official Match Thread ***

We will win, I am confident...

Lloris

Walker
Daws
Verts
Ekotto

Lennon
Parker
Dembele
Bale

Siggurdson

Ade

subs: Friedel, Holtby, Caulker, Naughton, Livermore, Hudd, Kane

I love Holtby, but I'd honestly take the chance to give Sigurdsson a chance to show some stuff. Give Lewis another couple of games finding his way into things/seeing how it ticks on matchday...

Personally I can really see siggy and lewis complimenting each other really well, interchanging between playing in the hole and playing a bit deeper.. Both have great engines, both know how to tackle and both have an eye for a goal.. With dembele supporting, I think they could be formidable played alongside one another. Just my opinion.

Fair comment. Some time or other this might happen, but I doubt against Toon. And playing Siggy instead of Lewis, I just don't get and will be well annoyed if it happens on Saturday.

I'm absolutely baffled by this idea coming up that Siggy should start. We need to win this, Holtby has looked much better than Siggy, and with Clint needing a rest this is Holtby's chance. All IMHO of course :)

Agreed with the team, the formation will see Bale more forward than Holtby I hope. I think Lewis is better buzzing around in the mid, and Bale' the most likely to score ATM.

Clint will need resting after being away with the USA.

Don't think the Yanks will play Dempsey as lone striker. Jozy Altidore's in good form and a bit more physical than Clint. It would make sense for the USA to go 4-5-1 and try to stifle the game. Any road draw in The Hellhole Belt is a good result. But I could see him being the first one off the bench to play either mid or striker.

Not sure how the plane ride will affect him. I'm usually asleep before takeoff and raring to go after long flights. Maybe Levy could spring for a Lear just this once. Who says he won't pay for a striker?

Just trawling through the Geordie forums, it seems around 60% reckon they'll beat us, most say it will be tight but some think it will be convincing.

One poster also replied to a Spurs fan in a match thread by saying that they have a much better team and next season will finish above us :-k

Would be interesting to see Holtby start, but could be too soon. Wouldn't mind Siggurdson starting, bar the game with Dempsey up front he has looked good.

That is a very common opinion for fans of every team, regardless of the opponents.

I don't whether Clint will play or not, but after the travelling he won't be fit to play for us, so needs to be rested.

Maybe it's just me then. On the occasions I've thought we might finish above Man U, I've chuckled to myself, carried on applying the lipstick and then smashing another bottle of wine...

Not that it matters but are you another member of the fair sex and do you drink the wine before you smash the bottle?

Your avatar comes up as a box with an x in it on my computer.

I see them all the time. They've always got a 'feeling' about their next match. Even the likes of Villa and Wigan think they're gonna do us every time we meet. I'm sure it's no different when they play other teams. RAWK still think 4th is in the bag. They have these prediction threads and none of them ever predict anything less than 8 wins out of every 10 games.

Lots are picking Parker and dropping Dempsey. If fit Dempsey must play. He had the only noteworthy attempts on goal against WBA apart from Gareth's and along with Bale and Ade he is one of our 3 matchwinners.
I am confident of adding Holtby to that list soon and would give him his first start on Saturday. He is match fit and he will have had a week's training under his belt.

-------------Lloris
Walker-Dawson--Vertonghen-Naughton
Lennon--Parker--Dembele----Bale
-------------Holtby
------------Adebayor

Dempsey and BAE have travel thousands of miles for international games. Can't see either of them being right for Saturday morning.
Holtby deserves his chance and Ade is our only choice upfront.

2-1 Bale and BAE

Lloris

Walker
Dawson
vertonghen
Benny

Lennon
Parker
Dembele
Bale

Holtby
Ade

I've got gareth starting on the left but chances are he will play a more central role, I can see a fair bit of interchanging going on.

I'm the exact opposite - feeling of dread before every game, up until (if) we score the opening goal  I do feel better playing the teams above us though, less pressure to get a result and a good performance feels promising.

The only spot that really seems close to me is between Gallas and Dawson for the spot next to Vertonghen. I would expect AVB to continue with Dawson.

Not only has Holtby looked better than Sig, he's been given more game time in the two games he's been here than Sig and it seems clear that AVB rates him higher at this point. AVB even went out of his way to explain why Holtby was on the bench against WBA, something he rarely does from what I remember seeing at least.

As long as we don't pick up any fresh injuries then the team should almost pick itself.

Exactly, no way will Dempsey be fit to play. BAE maybe, but I'd happily see JV or Naughton at LB. Caulker at CB if necessary.

Nice payout for betting on a draw, I want too but would feel kinda like a traitor. Benefiting from our own demise :(

Well, I think we'll win, as long as Holtby plays instead of Dempsey, and I'm a massive Clint fan. So I wouldn't worry too much about your winnings or treacherous feelings :)

Would love us to win here. A few mates of mine are Saudi Sportswashing Machine fan's and i know many say we are dillusional but they take it to a whole new level. One good season since promotion and they think they have some divine right to be back near the top 4!
