The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

I doubt he will ever make a first team regular.

Had a chance of glory today, but it didn't happen. Looks a lot leaner than i remember from before?

him and kane look championship potential but coulthrist and coulibaly are the real hopes? why are they not involved. viktor fischer is only 18 but he plays with Ajax so shouldnt be an age thing. and its not like viktor is just unbelievable so that isnt why he plays and therefore not valid comparison. of course viktor is very good though

Coulibaly has gone out on loan, but they're still kids (relatively speaking). If they were good enough they would be involved.

how old are adam smith, pritchard, coulthrist, couliabaly etc? unless 17 or below i cannot understand why Spurs dont use them more. what are they waiting for?

For them to either develop to a required level or to get some money from a sale, but first they need to increase their value by getting them experience on loan.

Lee Barnard scored for fun in the reserves, even occasionally scored for Southampton in the Championship. Now he's on loan at Bournemouth. He was a much better prospect than Obika.

is obika good? QUOTE]

He is scoring goals for fun in the "reserves" He got himself into a great position today. I have seen him play in a few friendlies when he has scored or assisted.
Hooper is 24? Obika is 22-who knows?

at 22 and even at 20 imo the club should be in a position to say are they good enough yes so have them properly part of the squad, or no there not so lets sell him or even just release the player. how can the mind not be made up on a 22 year old? seems strange to me

My theory is that they're partly being nice to Obika by letting him stay on. Maybe he didn't find a club this summer. He's on low wages and would be an emergency backup, as we saw today.

Because we play in the Premier League, not in the Eresdivisie ;)

The number of teenagers that make it as regular starting players for top teams in England is very small.

I can see where your coming from my dutch friend. Think it is because we have such firm targets like getting into the champions league where as teams like west ham or villa can play youngsters more because the is no expectations on them.

Would like us to go the path of trying each season to intergrate a youth player into the first team, i always remember in the 90's this was what juve did and it saved them a load of money.

I assume we could say that caulker is the one for this season fro the youth team who is now a regular first team player. It is why i think it important that townsend and livermore go out on loan for the rest of the season in the prem because they could come back next year and be ready to play.

Next season we could be looking to smith, pritchard and maybe one of the young strikers getting some loan experince in the prem and then the following season being ready for our first team squad. If every year we are working to get at least one youth player come through as an important member of our first team squad then we will save ourselves a lot of money and also been an attractive prospect to youth players we try to sign.

The thing with our youth players is they are also cheaper in wages and your not just saving the transfer fee, if livermore gets some game time at another club till the end of the season i honestly think he would be at the same level as jenas(though i do not rate jenas) so we would save a lot of money next season by having livermore as a squad player instead of jenas.

Hopefully in two seasons time we could sell one of the two kyles and have smith as the under study or even the first choice right back, we do this through the team and we have money to buy a top class striker. I think this is what the club are going for because sherwood often talks about the "pathway" to the first team for youth players.

Apparently Pritchard has gone to Peterborough on loan for the rest of the season.

I would be happy with that if gets game time, do you know if he would still be available for the next gen series i think that has happened in the past with players out on loan and did we get him to sign a new contract.

Alex Pritchard has joined Championship team Peterborough United on loan until the end of the season.

The midfielder has made nine appearances for our Under-21 side this season, as well as scoring four goals in four games for our NextGen Series team that has reached the last 16 of the competition.

That's all the OS had to say.

So pleased about Pritchard, apparently he has a new deal.

All those people saying he was off - WRONG WRONG WRONG

Love it x 1000 :)

Now I'm just waiting to see who's right between me and Mr Spaceman :)
