Mykhailo Mudryk

the inflated inter premier league cost of players has made this transfer taste bad. He has been out for a considerable amount of time, probably not in chelsea's plans at all, so in some ways he is lucky that a manager like RDZ that has worked with him before is willing to take a punt.

But we are getting no reward for trying to make him an able player again. 75m for him is an outrage but so its 75m for savio. I just dont understand how they could not get some fee around the 45m mark. its bonkers to think chelsea still saw him as a 75m player and we agreed to it.
 
An unsavoury character (I don’t know if this is true, but going off others), hard as nails with pace to burn, and will be playing for his whole career.

This *could* be great to watch.

If Mudryk thrives for us, delivering excitement, goals and assists, and significant in those three, then we will pay the money for him and he will be our first choice.

The one awkward point could be if he has a better second half to the season. Not crazy wow but enough to think he may have stepped up. Then do we pay £75m for what could be a 3-4 month form period?

Either way I hope that he amazes everyone and makes £75m the deal of the year.

The day I start listening to anything from Cheatski is the day a pack football in entirely.
 
Isn't the £75 million option just a question of Chelsea protecting themselves against the (admittedly vanishingly small) chance that Mudryk demonstrates that he still has the abilities that led to them agreeing to pay up to £89 million for him more than 3 years ago? It would have been the height of madness on their part to agree a lower fee at this stage. Of course it is much more likely that by the end of this season Mudryk's perceived value will be less, very possibly significantly less, than the currently agreed £75 million and Spurs (and every other team) will have the option to offer a lower fee.

For the avoidance of doubt, I would much rather than we hadn't got ourselves in a position where we needed to turn to Mudryk as a left wing option. However, from what I've read it seems that we were pretty convinced that we were going to get Gakpo and that Ndaiye seemed a fairly bullet-proof alternative.

so then the question is. Was we that desperate for another winger that we could not wait until January. We just signed Savio and Marmoush, with Kudus back and Deki close. it all stinks of desperation a little.

Don't know why people are getting so hung up on the fee, it's not an obligation so he either does well enough that we are happy to pay it or we don't and look elsewhere. Could also be that we have no intention of paying it, as the likes of Odobert will be back for next season. Then there's the fact you can negotiate such options, we literally negotiated Tel's fee from 45m to 30m.

Mountains out of molehill stuff....

If anyone can be arsed to go back to the days when we were constantly shipping Kane out on loan then they’d probably be able to find a load of s hite being written about his ability and character by some of our ‘fans’.

People change. He’s had almost two years to reflect on things. Let’s at least give the bloke a chance.

I wasn't that desperate for another winger. I was desperate for a goal scoring striker (no idea who that could be though). However it seems that RDZ was that desperate for another winger. Only he could explain why. Still, miserable bastard that I am, I remain to be convinced by any of our forward players.

Actually Savio's best season is better than Doue's best performing season so far both by the eye test and the stats and in a higher tier league to boot.

Odobert Will have little to no value this summer having been injured for so long and likely not playing much before the summer and Tel's value reduces every game he plays. 🤣

I don't disagree with you in principle but I think the context of the time remaining in the window and reduced options available probably meant we just wanted to get him through the door and didn't want to get bogged down over haggling the transfer fee portion in the limited time remaining.

I would be surprised if we deem him worth £75m after this season so I'm kinda sanguine about the buy fee as I think there will be better available for less next summer.

You do remember we were trying to sign Ndiaye right? So yes we clearly did want another winger and I don't know if you noticed but just this past weekend we ended up playing a RB at RW and Tel at LW. If that isn't a sign that maybe we needed more numbers then I don't what is. 🤣😅
 
Isn’t 75m just the figure that Chelsea would have to accept if we bid it? Like Tel’s was 60m.

So just like we renegotiated Tel’s fee, we could do the same for Mudryk. Of course it’s then about risking it on the open market and other teams could come in, but if RDZ is successful in reviving the career of a man he called a future Balon D’or winner, then he’s probably gonna wanna stick with him.

And if he doesn’t, we haven’t really lost anything.

Which is a nonsense because none of us know these guys personally. The supposed "character" that people speak of is only what they show the cameras and with some of them what they show the camera is very carefully curated.

His price tag will be market value if he succeeds, but minus most of the performance risk.
That makes him exactly the same value as Gakpo or Ndiaye, with the the costs for this season effectively being trial costs.

The price is correct.
We also haven't attempted to penny pinch - a long standing criticism.

Could the fee have been 10-15m lower if the Gakpo and Ndiaye moves weren't known about? Probably. But they were, and time was of the essence.

If there is a political situation come purchase time to negotiate the fee down, great!
For right now we have a blank canvas, at little cost, a body instead of a gap, and a known and correct price if we want to purchase.
We may not need to purchase come next summer - maybe Tel or Odobert suddenly fill the hole? Maybe LWB bursts into the scene?
Or maybe we have a £75m player, playing well, integrated into the squad, that we get to buy for £75m.

It's a deal set at the right level for all parties.
