Cody Gakpo

Being serious, have you seen the LB market? do you see England playing a RB as a LB?

Who is this proper LB that is better than Udogie and Robertson?
firstly, udogie made 20 appearances in the EPL. you have to discount how well he plays by half when comparing with another
also, liverpool replaced robertson with a player from bournemouth - young but similar stats but can only get better.

we're linked with Tonali, but Lewis Hall is a more realistic option, proven and young as a start but i am sure asking to better udogie and robertson isn't too much for a club seeking European football.

edit: I just checked and bournemouth bought Adrien Truffert as a replacement for gbp15m and didn't suffer from losing kerkez to liverpool to replace robertson

maybe the question you should be thinking about is how is lange keeping his job ?

Romano has made a very recent claim that we're interested but Liverpool are rebuffing at the moment.
Considering Gakpo is returning from the World Cup and having to deal with the grief of losing his child, we shouldn't expect anything soon on this front. Cody should be focusing on himself and his partner at the moment.

As with Gibbs-White last year, totally understandable if this one doesn’t happen

Did not age well, my friend :tearsofjoy:

Lewis-Hall??? Seriously??? Would understand a short leave of absence until this is buried in other discussions o_O

that was on the assumption of last year's transfer fees. oh well, at least i must say i am pleasantly surprised at how strongly we are breaking our transfer records with fernadez and tonali in quick succession.

if we had not come up with 185 mil and stuck with last year's budget - who do you think we would have gotten with Man U and Arsenal looking at both of them?

lewis hall is comparable to udogie and stays fit. much better than taking chances with robertson, and his back up davies.

If it is true then we’d still lack pace in our front line, potentially Gakpo, Solanke, Kudas, is a bit pedestrian.

Hopefully that gets addressed with the CF signing.

Feel like other than Salah he was their most important attacker when they won the league two years ago (18 goals and seven assists in all comps). Remember thinking he was stepping up a level. But then he dipped last season.

That's not a bad comparison and like @Hotspur75 said, he's a more reliable version.

Immediately adds goal threat and final third actions. If prefer Savio purely because Savio/Tel offers difference whereas Gakpo/Tel is the same thing just with a better more established player.
I think both Gakpo and Tel can play central and from the left. That may well be appealing in a season with fewer games. It means you could sell either Richi or Solanke - most likely the former - and still have cover in every forward position. Better than Savinho.

I would not be superenthusiastic about him coming, but I could see why it could work in the short to medium term. Good character to have around, more of a natural leader than you would think, has a solid relationship with (and is hugely respected by) JPvH, VDV and Xavi. Perhaps Robertson too. Proven in the Prem like the other new recruits.
