Not sure about 'faith in his good nature'.
Just the fact people (not everybody I'd add) can change as they age.
Experience is the best teacher, and all that.
I know a few people who have met him and know him well. And he's genuinely a kind person according to them. He's fair and compassionate.
However the job can make a monster out of angel in the pulbic eyes.
I'm really hopeful though.
And he is using the same marketing team as Mamdani.

Good PR goes a long way. But I fear it is an impossible job at this point.
He has to deal with swathese of fake news and lies that people who don't like to check facts love to spread. Yes.

We need to luck into someone that is the complete package, someone that cuts thru. They absolutely need good policies to go with it, and they'll have to be bold in that area as well. As tinkering or looking different but still hamstrung by the same old brick will end they same way.
And the changes we need could well be a 10 year path, so it's going to require someone special.
I think many at this point aren't concerned with the party, it's the person we need.
So many ways it could fail though, sadly.

He will need some big wins early though because Farage/Refirm like them or not have a big pull and they can always pull the leaver of aligning with the Torries if Labours good polling since Burnham is genuine.
The ultimate issue he has is that the UK has fallen so far behind economically while cost of living has been increasing at the same rate as the countries where the economy has grown. Basically a Mediterranean country now. Hot weather, brick economy, good football team

It's a great question. I find myself thinking that we might well be looking at another 'pandemicesque' situation sadly. With the reductions in funding for bodies such as the CDC and some important global health initiatives, it feels like we are not just sleep-walking, but impudently marching towards another global health crisis?
