Sounds good swapping from fullback to winger but it rarely works, the space and angles change massively and you recieve the ball in totally different positions. Bale is the only one I can think who improved, Sessegnon looked better as wingback but he didn't have the heart or mind of a defender.

Spence excels at getting himself into a good position but doesn't get close to excelling once he gets into that good position. I suspect that is why he is ended up a defender and not an attacker. Most full backs start out as attacking players and get shifted back because their end product isn't good enough.

The question is less about what City think but can we get the Girona level of performance out of him and why was he unable to match that quality?

Is it the change in leagues, is it the change of position from left to mainly right, is it the lack of emphasis on him (at Girona he was the key attacker) or was it just everything falling in place perfectly for him in a golden season that he will never be able to replicate?

Personally I think it's more the change of position and emphasis along with a degree of struggling to really fit into the Emirates Marketing Project system than him being a player that lacks quality.

Even looking at last season it has the massive caveat that the player himself wanted to leave, so his heart was no longer really in It but City made him stay. I don't really think being forced to stay somewhere you don't feel comfortable and which you had already made your mind up to leave is a good recipe for a season of performances.

Nothing is a guaranteed success but I feel so certain he will at a minimum be better here in our left than he ever could be at City. He probably needs to feel a little bit more important to get that level of performance out of him again.

I think its alot of money for a player with so many of those questions over his head. Given we have Tel and Odobert in that area and both have similar question marks, I would think its a risk NOT worth taking

Not aiming this at you, but I suspect the demand for him in the wider sense comes because he would be new. I personally struggle to see it with the lad I really do
