Lucas Bergvall

Heres one, would you rather keep Vuskovic and Bergval in the hope they fulfil their potential but it may takes years and we could have a few more poor seasons or do you take £100m+ combined to out towards now players who could help us fight for a top 5 place straight away?

Well to me it's hilarious it's Brighton and Forest, two clubs who were determined to fudge us (MGW and JVH) and now want something from us.

Lesson to be learned there for them .. maybe

I think we over play it TBH, its an alpha sport/industry where negotiations are key. People will act in their own interests and are allowed to, in fact I take my hat off slightly to anyone that does, even to our detriment, because thats what they should be doing for their club. No club should be rolling over after a belly rub because its good old Spurs and neither should we.

Its business, take the emotion out of it. If they want something we have and are prepared to pay the take their money.

I'd take the right now because I don't know if I believe either will actually get to the level that has been suggested (more so Bergvall). Vuskovic I honestly just haven't watched enough to really judge, but I just note most of the hype in relation to him comes from the goals he scores rather than the defending he does.

Whatever our saviour wants.

Worth understanding that in the PSR era it’s more about the profit you make from a transfer fee than the actual amount. As an example if we sold Solanke now for £30M its basically a zero gain form a PSR perspective. But Bergvall & Vuskovic will be 90% profit.

Take the money.

Neither came through the academy so my connection to both is limited. Plus there is no certainty that either will fulfill the potential we fans have assigned them. They would need to be Hoddle or King mk.2 to do that and it’s almost guaranteed they won’t hit those heights.

Get the £100m from selling Danso, Bentancur and Solanke instead

We need to open the pathways and you do that by having Vuskovic 4th CB, Bergvall 4th CM and Lanshear 2nd CF

We would struggle to get £65M from those 3. But it also has to take in to consideration the amortization for PSR.

Danso cost us about £25M when you include the loan fee. We would still have £15M on the books for him. So if we sold him for £30M it would only be £15M profit.

Solanke was about £55M and we still have £33M on the book. We would struggle to get much more than that for him. Bentancur would be mostly profit now. But you are looking at maybe £25M you could actually go out and spend.

Sell some more Klimt and Bacon then too

Johstone and Lewis raised £200m last week by flogging some paintings, including some by Klimt and Francis Bacon. They were short on cash, so its whats paying for Tonali and Fernandes

Don’t think it is tbh.

But either way. Thats not really all that relevant to PSR. We need to be selling players that have been at the club for 4+ seasons or for significantly more than we paid for them.

Gallagher, Tel, Danso, Odobert, Maddison, Kulusevski, Dragusin, Vicario. We sell any of these were not really getting much out of it at this point. That’s not to say we shouldn’t. But its not raising major funds to reinvest.

Vuskovic and Bergval do not want to be 4th choice, they don’t even want to be second choice, this is the reason they want to leave.

They did sell them last week for exactly the sort of figures we are potentially spending on Tonali and Fernandes tomorrow: https://www.theguardian.com/artandd...d-freud-set-for-londons-most-valuable-auction

Not quite. Yes people act in their own interests, yes it's an alpha sport and industry. But both those things mean we have leverage we'd leave on the table if we accepted a reasonable offer from Forest.

Fact is, they fudged us over last year, because their owner couldn't stand being seen to lose by losing MGW to us. He was petty and was rewarded for it.

That gives us leverage, because it creates bad blood we can use to charge them a higher fee than we'd ask from others. They want Bergvall? 75m from them versus 50m from others. Not like we need the money either way, and there will be other suitors for a kid so highly rated. It also sends a message - deal fair with us, we'll deal fair with you.

It's why Madrid sometimes overpay for their players, and, conversely, let players go fairly easily. Being seen to be easy to deal with helps other clubs feel they aren't being fudged over when it comes to selling their players to Madrid vs someone else. Makes it easier for them in the long run. At the top end, relationship aspects like that matter, which is something Levy never learned in his nickel-and-diming over 10 quid and a shilling.

Whereas, being difficult to deal with, like Marinakis, brings a 'being a c*nt' surcharge, which we are in a position to impose if he really wants Bergvall. We don't need your money, and have a grudge. Make it worth it for us, or fudge off.

Different to how we would act with Brighton.
