Luka Vuskovic

Last 3 years he has lived and played in Warsaw, Antwerp, Hamburg and been the best player. Seems he is good at adapting.

(Separate thought I’d love us to have Westerlo as a dedicated feeder club)

He is insanely talented. Germany is a good place to be. And yes he can adapt but at the same time if Bayern are looking at him I can see him wanting to go.

Its game over for him ever playing for us though, if we actively give away his HG/CT status by loaning him again. We're then transactionally trying to push Bayern for a £100m fee next summer

He's incredibly mature for his age, if you watch clips of him training with Hamburg you'd think he was the captain, the kid has some serious presence.

Good test of the Lewis family’s recent messaging then. If they’re serious about the focus shifting back to footballing success as the primary target then they will be valuing what he could bring to the team above any fee they might reap for him within the next 5 years or so.

Sorry @robp135 i guess Toby hasn't spent enough time on Transfermarkt to realise Vuskovic is the best defender just yet:

Is that him saying he isn't ready or saying that he and Spurs need a partnership? I don't see this as a negative on his ability to come in and play regularly, in fact I think its the opposite especially with the summary "we need to ger as quicky a good partnership as centre-backs"

Look, I am ok with him staying on loan, and also I think there is massive benefit him coming back and us building with him, to dare is to do and all that.

I’ve took it as he’s young so a loan won’t be a bad thing but when he comes to Spurs he needs someone next to him and that is the partnership. Don’t bring him and be trying him out with people and chapping and changing.

In an ideal world him and VDV will be the mainstays for a few years

TBF I think the comment could be read many ways. One could be that having a loan to build a partnership and then break it because its not for keeps is another..........

Anyway its a debate that will go on forever I am sure, I know there are always extremes when it comes to the views on our youth, from "play them all" to "they are never ready" but I think this lad likely fits in the middle somewhere

Point being there's a lot more to it to consider than what armchair fans look at - A few YouTube clips, the occasional matched watched and all of a sudden he's our best defender.

An actual top PL level defender has explained why there's a lot more to his development to consider than what we think - Oh he's young, done well abroad he must be ready for the PL. It's not that simple....

TBF it's dont think anyone thinks its that simple, I trust those suggesting it are taking into account the potential downsides without always expressing them

Hence why folk like myself use the term bravery

Rob said he's our best defender based on Transfermarkt valuations and in the past plenty of times players have been overhyped based on not seeing a lot of a player beyond clips.

I don't mind him staying at all, I've seen 4 or 5 Hamburg games and he's very talented for sure but I don't see him being first choice yet and with no Europe I can easily understand him being loaned out again. There's no right or wrong answer tbh, I trust the club and Vuskovic to come to the right conclusion....

We are on the same page TBF

I just think with him being what he is at his age aka, one of the best CBs in his league, two years running, let people be excited and overhype him, its one of the last joys in football.

After his first few months at Hamburg I've always had the uneasy feeling that he and 'his people' already feel that we're a stepping stone that he no longer needs. I agree that it would be too risky for him to be first choice for us. I'd be happy with him being rotated as back up with Danso but I very much doubt that he would be.

Hate to make the comparison to them lot but they were in a similar position with Saliba and the loans helped him. Got trust (and hope) we don’t mess this up because he could be a generational talent if developed correctly. Putting him in our defence too early could set him back

I’d be uneasy if Barcelona and Bayern Munich wanted to spend £70M on me and be part of their first team but Spurs were telling me “need another loan we’ve got Kevin Danso”
