I was an was a great boss.....reflected in my index and bonus when it came to the crunch :cool:

But you asked if you was his team mate, not what we would do as individuals

I dont subscribe to this faux outrage culture this all.....especially when them making odds at it have commented it wouldn't make a difference

Doesn’t seem to fit in with Davies and Vicario being on the bench on Tuesday night, nor with Maddison being named as sub before he was even fit to play.

I guess you have to ask the question whether all boxes can be ticked by Romero. I completely understand that the international team and winning the world cup is way more important than his club side. When you think about it logically, it absolutely should be even for the English who have been tainted by this dirty Sky money for decades. If you're name is Itoje or Stokes, it's not even a debate in the same way it wasn't for Carling or Botham.

The only real question of Cuti I have is whether he could have ticked both boxes. I don't mean playing, but doing his conditioning work in the UK.

The moral of this story could well be to start hiring the Argentinian medical team. They are apparently the best in the business.

Again though its cultural, you read it all the time, players trusting certain Dr's and there being specialists they have used all the time. If this is a case where their team are taking over his rehab in relation to pre WC assessment then I suppose it makes is doubly important to him.

Ultimately this wouldn't have been a whim, the management and directors would have sat and over seen this decision and I am sure there would have been long dialogue.

Exactly. It's not liked he was backed into a corner.
Both scenarios could have been facilitated.
Any hurdles smoothed out with money at this level.
So HE made a decision for one scenario to happen. So the other scenario he didn't care for much.

Or cares more for, there is a difference, you can care for two things deeply but one more.

Then the club should have made a strong case for it and insisted on it.

Footballs changed mate, I dont care if he is here or he isnt, football is more transactional now, its just the reality.

And in fairness, it works both ways, I saw a clip earlier of Danny Thomas penalty miss as its the anniversary of the final win, I still get chills with the "one Danny Thomas" ringing out after, can you imagine that now from our fanbase, could you fcuk. To that point, people who have cnuted Romero off on here all season are those most in uproar at the news, why would he want to stay with such support and that which occurs in the stands on match days, it works both ways.

Also as for ex pros etc, again with all due respect, every d0g and their d1ck in that field have an opinion and most to rile engagement (just look at social media and talksh1te). So I dont hold any bearing on that. De Zerbi staunchly defended it, that holds more water than anyone, people will say "well he isn't going to not defend the player" well that might be the case, but he basically corroborated the agents story.

As for winning mentality, that comes as much from always having excuses for things, this being the start of what feels like another all told. Big clubs with big mentality have individual accountability, I haven't tracked player movements when injured during big games at other clubs, but I am sure it happens. We also are guilty of always finding fault with our club and players, I don't know another like it, granted I am not in others circles, but I find out club grim for it TBH.

If him going to Argentina gives him more chance of the WC, he goes with my wishes, thats from someone who would also sell him in the summer, so I won't be contrary about it all

I think it is A: yes pride and optics, because it’s quite embarrassing for our club captain to choose not to be there for one of the biggest games in its history. Leadership matters. As people have said, it’s about not being more likely to win one game if he is there, it’s about what it says about our club, about our standards, over the course of a season and beyond. You see the captain get away with things, and others think they can let their own standards or commitment slide. It compounds over a longer time period.

B I think it’s just people being done with Romero; and it’s not more complicated that that. He can’t be relied upon to not he sent off, he’s not been available enough, and now he’s not going to be there. I’m sure the club gave him permission, because the club will never want to be seen to be in conflict with an international team. But if you’re Romero, you should not ask the club. You shouldn’t be putting them in this position. It’s bizarre behaviour for me.
