Xavi Simons

Great goal but should learn from Richarlison that taking your shirt off to celebrate scoring invariably ends in tears…

Really feel for him. Hopefully it’s just a knock but he clearly looked done

Simons confirmed after the match to Jay Harris that it was merely cramp, hence how he was able to sprint in 96th minute to take the ball off of Bergvall on the edge of Brighton area.

Hopefully our new coaching team can improve Xavi’s fitness levels so he can run his socks off for 90+ minutes, like Eriksen used to do for us.

Cramp I’d have thought?

Amazing that some people don’t think he’s any good. Frightening in fact, these people walk among us…
Crazy. Especially when there is such a dearth of creativity and quality in the current setup.

Young player in a rubbish team in the hardest league in the world. He’s developing just fine. Every now and then we will get a game like today (which should have been match winning). Other days we won’t - and that’s ok,

Amazing the amount of free kicks he doesn't get given
He's small and plays for Spurs, hence he should toughen up, while those big cloggers playing for other teams can't really be at fault for their body size. 🤷‍♀️

Great goal, great effort, gave his all today. Silly yellow for taking off his shirt (what’s the point of that, really?), but he showed what he can offer.

This followed me saying he would be a club legend. He was then sent off v Liverpool.

He has the ability to make it. He has the mentality and work rate to make it. I think he will be there especially when we have an operational attack. He can then link well with the better players and show exactly what he’s about as he did last night.

He was the one attacking midfielder I most wanted last summer. And after some tough days I believe he is ready to fly. And when he does it will be because he dug deep, he put in extra training, he worked hard both on and off the pitch to succeed. So it will be great to see him thrive.

And he delivered v Brighton. Sadly it wasn’t enough as we couldn’t hold on but he was excellent. He’s a true star so good to see him shining bright. Hopefully he can find similar form in our remaining fixtures.

I can understand his booking. It was a moment of pure emotion. The goal wasn’t just a tap in. Surely we don’t want to rob the game of pure passion and emotions?!

Yeah, I'm all for celebrating and don't really get how taking your shirt off is punished harder than actual cheating, diving, feigning injury, etc. I totally understand the emotion and relief in that (great) goal, though. So no judgement. Just a "hold your horses" moment, as there was still a lot of time left.
