OMT Badgers vs Eagles

I`ve binned the lucky shirt I`ve been wearing for games from the last 2 seasons, I actually thought it was working when we won the Europa League last season but this year I`ve realised its not working so into the bin its gone. You lot can thank me when we smash Palace tomorrow as the jinx will have been lifted

The players need to show some gonads first and foremost.

The crowd have done their job lately, the atmosphere at the Woolwich derby for instance was great (killed slightly by the long delays) and even at Fulham the away fans sang till the end. If anything these players don’t deserve the support they’ve had so far, though of course I’m not saying that support should stop.

The crowd will make plenty of noise, with this run of form, for me, first and foremost these players need to show that they actually give a toss about the club - the pathetic, gutless lack of effort needs to stop.
Manager needs to show gonads first. Back the team to play and then it puts the onus on them to step up. When you concede the game before it's even started then how do you motivate yourself?

We are the worst team in the league by a country mile. We're dogѕhit. That white dogѕhit that results from excess dietary calcium. Palace will be absolute crap and still win by two goals. I'll support them tomorrow, but I'm afraid I'd be lying if I said I had the slightest faith in them winning.

Edit: with apologies to Bill Hicks, I don't mean to sound negative about our survival prospects, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

I can see Johnson, Mateta and Larsson all scoring against doctor Tottenham.
Richy might get a tap in and Tel will rifle a couple at the corner flag. Solanke will run around a lot. Kolo Muani will scuff a few wide. Simmons will lose the ball a lot, and Vicario will be Vicario.
Sorry ive lost all hope.

I always say «this is the game it could change!», and have meant it throughout this season, but this time I have little faith, I’m afraid. Maybe that, and Nexus’s tshirt, and Spurslikeacat’s bucket of chicken wings etc etc will turn brick around tonight! No, wait, it won’t. I have zero faith, I even have zero faith that the footballing Gods are listening, wink wink. No, I didn’t wink, had something in my eye. We’re like Job, it’s all going to brick.

I'll never stop believe we can dig ourselves out of that hole of our own making but there are, in my opinion, two massive differences between now and 1993 or 1998 (I was so certain we were going down that year).

First, even in 93, we had quality players in the squad - players like Anderton, Sheringham, Mabbutt or Barmby were 'differential' players. They were much better than anything the rest of the teams fighting for relegation had. That's not the case anymore.

Second, the players' mindset was so different back then. In 98, Klinsmann came back to save us from the drop. Say whatever you want about Sheringham or Anderton, but they really cared about the club back then. Now, we're struggling to name three players who are not already instructing their agent to look for a more 'suitable' employer.

And still... one win could still change everything.

I think we can agree that both players and manager need to show an awful lot more and actually play (and manage) like they actually want us to get out of this situation.

My only issue with these players is there’s a real thing forming where it’s all (not your quote) “the players need an arm round them and to be told they’re good and be allowed to play and it will all come good for them” and to be honest, I certainly think there’s a lot to be said for taking Franks shackles off, and getting them to go out and play more open and expansive, but in some quarters (mostly online) it’s gone a bit far.

These players also need to realise they are paid millions of pounds a week, and that the fans watching them pay thousands every season to be there, if these players can’t motivate themselves to a high level without having to constantly be told the situation they’re in, then they aren’t good enough for this league anyway.

The crowd, the manager and other sources can do a lot, but these players actually need to show some backbone and meet all of those sources half way as well. Currently we’re headed to the championship with an absolute whimper.

I agree, players get a free ride when things go wrong, it's always the manages fault. I've not seen the passion or discipline I would expect from my team for a few seasons.

If that means Richy plays then fine with me.

If that means Richy or Muani will be coming deep like Solanke did against Fulham, eeek.
I thought playing Solanke that way was absolute madness. He's a target man. Good at holding the ball up, great outlet, decent finisher. He's not Harry f**king Kane. One of those decisions I'd have to question Tudor on.

I guess given he got a bit of a tune out of Muani at Juventus he is sticking with what he knows - trouble is anyone that's watched him plays this season knows his heart ain't in it and/or he's not good enough
