ENIC

Only some fans. It's the entitlement I don't get when did we become Chelsea or utd

I think we've jumped straight past them with stuff like this.

I can't think of any fanbase/supporter group that go in so hard so early. Yes we've had a a couple of bad seasons and recent results are mixed, but we are still better off than 90% of the pro clubs in this country.

There is a complete lack of perspective.

The key to me is turnover.
We can see MNC MNU ARS LIV are the big 4, then CHE and TOT are reasonably close behind but of course Champions League money makes a huge difference here.

Then a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge gap down to Saudi Sportswashing Machine/Wet Spam/Villa/Brighton and the rest who have a half or a third of our revenue.
I've cobbled together these rough figures in EURm from Swiss Ramble and Google and YES they will be wrong and will change every year.

Note that in an effort to keep up, Villa are spending ~100% of revenue on wages which is of course untenable unless they always reach the CL and goddamit they probably are this year... but that is what Leeds used to do, until it all went wrong.

850 MNC (Cheats x 115)

750 MNU

That's Levy's legacy, he understood the impact of revenue and that's what we spent 20+ years building. Better business in the long run should equal better team, there may be flaws to that approach but there is also merit.

It's also why he was trigger happy, we couldn't afford multiple years out of Europe while trying to make up a gap to the top.

We now have no fudging idea what the strategy is

Yet those same bad owners had us in the CL for years. We have never been a club at the level of Man U/Liverpool - The Aston Villa and Everton's would love to have had the years of CL, league cups and Europa League triumphs we have had.....

The last few years has made it feel like Pochettino succeeded in making us title challengers in spite of ENIC rather than thanks to their ownership and the Lewis kids taking out loans against our club’s future earnings in order to finance last summer’s transfer splurge doesn’t inspire me with confidence.

Whilst we’ve had the better of it this century at least Villa fans of my age have seen their club pick up the European Cup and Everton fans have witnessed their side become champions of England in the past half a century… I’m beginning to doubt I’ll see Spurs achieve either of those things in my lifetime despite the expectation that NWHL would be a game changer.

Poch wasn't even the only manager to get us into the CL. We had it with Conte, we had it with Redknapp. But of course it will always be a case of our owners just got lucky with it, whereas other clubs owners it was great leadership.

Facts are, (and I'm far from the biggest of fans of our ownership) we outperform our peers on any metric over the 20 plus years of ENICs tenure....

Levy indeed did a great job and hopefully the new chief exec shall build upon his fine work but over half a decade of decline is clearly taking its toll upon our fanbase. Guess we just have to hope that at least one of these talented youngsters we keep signing proves able to elevate us to CL status again like Modric & Bale or Kane & Son used to…

We replace players instead of adding. And when we do add its kids.

I would like the entire board to go along with Lange and whoever is doing transfers and get a new medical/training team.

If these dont change are hurtling towards relegation battles if not this season or next. And I would love to see what Enic do then

Villa last major trophy 1996 , 30 years , hardly a good comparison.
Have assembled a decent squad at lower cost than Spurs under a manager who previously failed at The Woolwich with more money to spend.

PS Transfermrket figures last 5 years, net transfer spend in euros, Villa 82 million , Spurs 610 million .
Spurs outlay 7 times more than Villa , just shows it's who you sign to fit your squad not how much they cost.

And yet the owners sacked all of them.... They are reaping what they sowed.

The current owners of Villa only took charge in 2018, so guess we’ll see in 2043 whether they’ve achieved as much as ENIC…

As Finney has mentioned, our owners don’t seem to have any overarching philosophy as to how they want our team to play and keep flip-flopping between attack minded then park-the-bus managers meaning we’ve squandered the revenue which Levy’s new stadium has provided on constantly overhauling the squad to try and suit whichever gaffer is passing through the revolving door.

And that Lewis’ kids are now paying for transfers with loans secured against the club’s future revenue is just going to create issues down the line, unless they can secure a cash injection but the further we drift from being CL regulars the fewer suitors wanting to invest in THFC they’ll have.

It's the stupid comparison stuff again, no Villa, no Everton, West Ham, Fulham, whoever will not replace us because they simply can't generate the revenue we do (the lesson Levy figured out 25 years ago), you simply cannot compete with 6 clubs who all generate 200M-350M/yr more than you, regardless of owner "ambition". This is highlighted by Saudi Sportswashing Machine having access to cash but the revenue isn't enough to allow them to use it under PSR or future rules.

We spent ~380M with Ange, we will have more money to spend, the issue is spend it well and give it to a manager who has a higher ceiling, Frank has been found out, we are just wasting time and adding toxicity to the club sticking with him

There are no guarantees that new ownership will do anything, Everton had a new owner in Moshiri to a big fanfare of we will be better and what happened.
Man U fans have complained for years so the Glazers hand over operational control to Ratcliffe , have they improved , not really and squandered millions in the process.
Villa have done well because Emery came in and has found the right formula nothing to do with the owners splashing millions in the transfer market because they haven't , in fact they have incurred the wrath of UEFA by breaking wage ratio rules .
Same with Leicester when Ranieri came in , his magic lasted for awhile then subsided, just happened the owners made the right managerial appointment at the time.

Villa did splash the cash. Obviously paying high wages. And if they dropped down, they might be in trouble not being able to service those wages.

Putting the right people in place in the organisation, and then giving it time, and allowing some stability is a better shot at success. But that requires patience, and doesn't speak to the instant gratificaiton mindset.

Right people, right place , right time is so true.

Let's not forget Emery was at PSG with untold riches at his disposal and this happened.

In the first knockout round they defeated Barcelona 4–0 at the Parc des Princes, only to historically lose 6–1 in Spain and subsequently be eliminated

He then left PSG with still a year of his contract left and has now found the right place and time at the moment with Villa.
