OMT Mighty Spurs vs Hungry Wolves

I didn’t think they were that bad personally. They were very solid and well organised. Helped that we were fudging dreadful second half.

Really frustrated with the performance and result but relieved to get a point in the end.

Thought the players tried but we were massively short on quality.

On the crowd, thought they were decent through the game. But people fudging off 10 minutes from time in their droves and others booing at full time? Really disappointed with that.
I thought Wolves passed the ball with confidence, accuracy and bravery more times than we did. And that was against a backdrop of gaining zero points this season. Yes, they played the physical game as well but were no way oofing it.

Not overly concerned about last night, before the error by Vicario they had one half chance with they hit the post with.

We were much the better side for the first half and should have been leading

We need a striker/LW and a goal keeper urgently, then we can really push on

We have conceded 4 goals in the league this season and Vicario has been at fault for 2 of them
Yeah. Biggest concern about last night is how we responded to going behind. But that kind of game state is probably what our coaching and preparation has been the least focused on so far under Frank. Meaning that the first goal remains really important.

Had we taken one of those chances in the fist half I think it's very likely the game ends up a comfortable win.

Nail on head with the word basic. We have gained 3 points from home fixtures to Burnley, Wolves and Bournemouth plus an uninspiring 1-0 victory in the CL. Why? Because we are all setup about being solid defensively, but no real patterns of play going forward. If Kudus is stopped, and our set pieces aren't up to much then we look devoid of ideas. Away from home it's different because the onus isn't on us to attack, but at home it's been pretty poor if we're honest.

All these claims about how Frank is going to turn our players into much better ones is predictably not going to happen. We simply need better attackers, no one was saying ' I really want us to go for Solanke/Johnson/Odobert' when they were playing for other PL clubs, there's just this blind hope that they will all be amazing because they are now pulling on the Spurs jersey. It was obvious under Ange and it's just as obvious if not more so now under a more pragmatic manager.....
Didn't Frank improve several attacking players at Brentford over time?

I think the expectation that he'll do similarly here is fair, but obviously not going to happen in a couple of months.

I agree we were short on attacking quality last season, but we have also added Kudus, Simons and Kolo Muani. Kudus imo is already doing great, expect more from the other two over time (Kolo Muani first has to get fit of course).

The funny thing is he did for the Burnley game.
Yep
I guess it’s a learning curve
He is trying k work out how to manage his squad and that takes a bit of time
The players he put out are technically good enough to win that game
But if, like they did, they aren’t 100% in that game, you can’t easily drop points
One weird thing, and I’ve seen it before, is when we’re turned around from kick off (playing the wrong way first half) we never win

I thought we whipped quite a few good crosses and set pieces in, just no one doing the work to be at the end of them.
The corners just didn't feel dangerous as in previous games....kept landing too near the front post.

I was replying to the poor openplay XG post, offering that because the corners weren't dangerous last night... overall we didn't feel dangerous.....other weeks set plays have helped us to look like a team that will score.

Agreed
We felt very predictable

Expect it every time we now lose the toss :(

I agree we have added in the attacking area and of course we can't expect too much too soon. But whatever way you look at it our attack to date has been predictable, and Kudus has been the shining light but 'great' is a bit of a stretch - 3 assists at least one of which was from a corner and 0 goals says it all.

Improving attackers at a club like Brentford is a different matter where a lot more games the opposition will come at you and a lot more space on the counter as a reault. At Spurs you don't have that luxury for the majority of the time which means the players really do have to be a level above technically. And this isn't a criticism of Frank, this is me saying he needs to be given the best possible tools. Simons and Muani might be a good starting point, but we need a quality LW and and striker regardless if we want to become serious contenders for top 4....

I do wonder how much impact only having one fit, and limited, striker is having
