Transfer thread

He's not better than anything we got already, and we're not short of association trained players. We need club trained player to fill up the UEFA quota.
He also seems to be a massive prick too. No thanks!
I'm not worried about club trained players in the long term and there aren't really any around who are good enough to bolster us this term.

Next year both Gray and Bergval will be allowed on the A list for UEFA competition and no longer take up overseas player spots which will be very helpful. The year after they will count as homegrown. There are also the likes of Vuskovic, Donley, Devine Mikey Moore and Phillips, where I would expect at least one of them to make it at the level of a player for the 25 man squad on merit.

Has the feeling of a window running out of steam. Romano said the Savinho deal depends on City signing Rodrygo, but there's been absolutely no indication of that deal even being in the offing.

No. 10 deals seem to have run into the "b-list" of targets where there's a genuine conversation of whether to keep the powder dry.

Centre-back deal doesn't seem to be happening.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we were done in the market which would be much more consistent with how we have operated in previous windows where we make a single significant first team signing and maybe another loan type deal and one or two kids or Takai type "filler" deals.

We absolutely love carrying out enquiries. 😂

Easy to say from the outside, of course, but how hard could it be? “How much do you want for him?” - “we don’t want to sell” - “oh come on, give us a number “ - “ait, say 50 mill” - then you speak with your mates Lange and Paratici for a few mins and either put in a bid or not.

I recently bought an apartment that way. I bought a car that way. When money is the currency, how hard can it be? Details, sure, but once you get an asking price, bid a bit low, get a no or a revised sum, bid again or step away. What’s all the magic hoodoo in between?

It does seem pretty simple doesn’t it? But clearly it isn’t, otherwise every club will get all the players they need, early in the window for every window. But they don’t. I’d love to be a fly on the wall to know the exact details that are holding things up

I agree, I would absolutely love that too. I understand that negotiations take time, of course, details of contracts and installment of payments and such, but this term "made an enquiry" - what does that mean in this context? It sounds like it's such a process.

Price has dropped a fair bit in the last couple of years
Gift Orban for EUR1m!
I rememer the headloss on here when we didn't get him.
There are loads of players we missed out on, many of whom didn't amount to much. Some of whom turned out to be great.

What I really want from Spurs is clever, good-value buys.
It is easy to pay full whack for established Prem players, but I want us to be sneaky and get really good players whose contracts are running out, or who have fallen out with an ars*hole manager.

E.g. if we can get Mainoo for £Xm when his value at his peak* was £2Xm.

*He made his debut for MNU and then 8 months later was starting for England in the Euros final, according to a tweet by TNT Sports. So he must be bloody good. He won the FA Cup vs MNC when nobody gave MNU a chance. He would be a bloody good addition to the club in every way, even if you think that right now he isn't the #10 you crave. Thomas Frank will find a way to deploy 11 good players in a good system.

Clubs don't get the players they want because they don't offer enough money to a deal happen. Whether that's to the player or the club...
