Whoever we go for now, their price has just gone up significantly when it comes to us. Other clubs will know we’re moving into desperation territory as we move into the latter stages of the window.

The reverse is also true, some teams will be desperate to sell players.

You said nonsense the other day that he's no better than Odobert, a player who can't even get on the pitch for us. That suggests you've either never watched him play or you have terrible player ID.

Player development isn't linear though, a decent player at 21 doesn't mean they will necessarily be a great one at 27. That 21 year might never reach that level and you might have just spent 6 her trying to develop them to be something they never can be. If you want to improve in the present then sometimes you're just going to have to get a player that improves you right now and not potentially in 5 years and I say this as someone who is absolutely an advocate of the speculative buying of potential players (but for under inflated prices, not what Spurs have been doing).

Hmmm…why are they desperate to sell them would be a reasonable question. And if they’re that desperate, why hasn’t anyone taken them off their hands 10 days before the window closes?

It’s the players that clubs are desperate to hold on to that we haven’t landed in MGW and Eze.

There's clubs that will need money, there's always clubs that need money and willing to sell.
There's clubs that spent on transfers and haven't been able to offload players.
They've tried to get as much for their players as possible and haven't been able to sell.
It's the same every single transfer window towards the end, some desperate to buy, some desperate to sell.
There's always players that can be picked up on the cheap.
I'm not saying that any of that will be relevant for the players we are after.

And the reason we didn't get Eze is nothing to with Palace being desperate to hold onto him.

Odobert hasn’t been given a chance, he has shown signs of a good player. We can’t all be super scouts like you. Pep rotates his players and gives youngsters a chance, if Odobert was at City i’m sure he would do well. I would much rather give Odobert a run of games than spend £70m on a step over merchant.

How can you disregard Odobert if he hasn’t had a run of games? Tel got 7 goals and 5 assists in the league for Bayern the season before last but he can’t get a run in our team. Its your opinion over mine, i have watched Savinho enough to know he isn’t a £70m player but you carry on with your Dads bigger than mine argument like we are in a school playground.

I think/hope you're lying about watching Savinho, because if you're not and think he is on the same level as Odobert your head really needs a wobble...

Or has it gone again like it did for weeks after the MGW deal fell through

Not saying they are the same level, i’m saying don’t spunk £70m on an overrated player when we have our own talent that needs to be given a chance. If it was £40/£50m i wouldn’t mind it but he isn’t worth £70m.

Maybe we don’t even want Savio and it’s another spurious rumour
We’re relating huge sums and club record fees here
Nothing in football when it comes to money is easy, that’s the only certainty
