Mohammed Kudus

Some of the language about the misgivings of signing Kudus is interesting me.

Particularly as it never seems to get attached to other demographics
Is the demographic you're referring to "Players who have had a meltdown committing 3 red card incidents in the space of 6 seconds whilst their team was getting soundly beaten"?

It's usually there's a bit of noise, especially as it wasn't his best season nor the club's, and Kudus has been sold to "bitter rivals", makes sense Spam fans are eager to criticise the attitude...It's a fair question to ask if Frank will get the best out of him. We all hope so, but we're not contractually obliged as a fan base to think it'll work out.

I hope I am wrong, but that's my take on it. Every spanners supporter I have spoken to refers to his inconsistency and tendency to go missing. Having talent and using it on a regular basis are two very different things

If I was played in multiple positions by multiple managers over a short period of time I'd probably find it hard to establush any rhythm myself. We missed a minute when we didn't sign him from Ajax (where he was great).

He joined under moyes. Moyes got sacked. He's had 2 managers since playing him out of position.
Yet still he played.
Not sure where this attitude problem comes from. He's not been rumoured to be late for training or fallen out with players.

Fans are always tinkled at a good player that leaves them. Read the forest forums. Mgw is the new sol campbell according to them.

It’s because last year he was physically remonstrating and arguing with the manager…who was an awful manager
Then of course the fans say he gets missing sometimes during games… like a lot of players do when their being asked to play brick football or stuff they believe is beneath them

He played in 6+ positions, with no more than 9 games in any of the positions, along with 2 managers and a poor performing side.

And people wonder why he was hot and cold.

First season, and his seasons before with Ajax show a completely different player

Plus by then he was probably thinking....
'what a brick club this is'

I have been unusually quiet on this thread and I am not going to bother reading through some of the comments which I personally find 'funny'. I am Nigerian and Kudus is Ghanaian. National rivalry aside, he is a player that I have wanted at Spurs since I saw his first start with West Ham. He is direct, very offensively oriented, and has the skills. I hope both Spurs and Kudus grow together on this journey. Welcome Kudus to Spurs.

And some drunk people were actually questioning who would start between him and Johnson. There are levels between them and it's not even close. 🤣

I'm really excited to see what Kudus can do for us this season. I know he's not perfect and he will have poor games, sometimes nothing will come off but just having a tech ideally capable player in the right is going to make such a difference. It's going to be night and day.

Is that the same Johnson who was our top goal scorer last year, and the same Johnson who won us the EL ? Just wondering

Pointless getting into a debate with @Bishop on this one, he's not going to budge on Johnson :D

Actually think Kudus v Johnson is an interesting case. I have been critical of Kudus purely from an end product point of view. Johnson has the end product which is crucial and a very positive thing to have at 24 years of age but needs to improve in other areas.

The opposite is true of Kudus - he needs to improve his decision making at the final hurdle ie when to pass vs when to shoot, which will help his overall figures.

However history tells you that the end product does come as age improves if you have the ability and Kudus is still fairly young and certainly has ability. Johnson improving aspects of his game such as beating his man etc isn't so easy to do, whilst not impossible. All in all I'd say it's good to have both these different players as options and will be interesting to see how the next couple of years go for them as there is plenty of scope for them both to improve....
