Just saw they've offered mbuemo £250k a week. He's on £50k.
Not quite as much as sancho £350k and casamero £400k.
But still too much. Give him £125k. Then improve based on performances. Give the player an incentive to play well. Not retire.
Ridiculous isn't it. He might be asking for it doesn't mean you have to pay it. Football wages are crazy

Give him double his money and he would be very happy
Woke still be a multi multi million contract
But United are notoriously stupid

They massively need to reduce their wage bill. Can't because nobody is willing to pay the wages the players are on.
So bring in players and pay them huge wages because that's what other players at utd are on?
It baffles me.

This will probably be his last contract. So where is the motivation?

A mill a month is great ain’t it
Another 200 jobs to go at United to fund it

Yes. They've spent big money on Cunha, are likely to sign Mbuemo, and Fernandes has turned down Saudi. If we don't want to actually say anything, how about speaking that language (not necessarily with those players BTW)?
You can't compare us to United. Despite them being a shambles they are relentlessly ambitious and want a return to their heady times. It means they will spend big on players (rightly or wrongly) that they believe will be game changers for them.

Our approach has been and likely always will be a tad more cautious and as a consequence slower in pace and action.

You call it ambition but it’s also desperation
They have to pay back sponsors now for deals they do with Europe caveats
They need that money back
And I fully agree we are more cautious. We don’t have a pot of money to gamble with

They had too because they are a mess
I don’t think that will change myself unless they throw £500m at it
They also have a LOT to shift on huge wages. Good luck to them
I are I think we have decided to sack Ange but they won’t do it/communicate it until he is back
Feel like Fernandes is their only signing in 10 years who has performed anywhere significantly above average for any period of time. The odds are stacked against Cunha and Mbeumo. The weight of the club crushes players.

That's because a lot of their signings have been 'names' from abroad. Cunha and Mbuemo are not glamorous names and have proven themselves to be very good players in the PL. People hoping for them to flop because at Man U are going to be disappointed....

You don't want to come here, cool. Not going to pay over the odds. We'll find someone else and be good without you (paraphrase of what Ange has said and what Maddison said Ange said to him).

I really like that approach. There may be times when going over the top is the way to go, but it definitely shouldn't be the main strategy or "normal".

They could flop for many reasons
They could also be great
Hard to tell because they have joined a stable ship for a start

There are more of those but Mount, McGuire, Lukaku, Wan Bissaka and Mata didn't pull up many trees. I love watching Cunha but maybe he's one of those players who it's better to watch at another team, not sure if his mentality and his defensive and tactical nous. Mbeumo I think might work out better but I don't think it's anywhere near a given. If I was a Man U fan I'd feel somewhat that any player thay wanted to come to the club wasn't welcome (repurposing that famous Groucho Marx idea).

Sure. It's just funny, as I said previously how people on here want to assess transfers of our rivals vs our transfers.

If we signed both of these players the reaction would be very different but as it's Man U of course they will flop....

As I’ve said loads, transfers are a gamble
Your buying people as a commodity
I’d be more confident of Mbuemo doing well anywhere because I’ve not heard anything about his attitude and ability to do what a couch would ask
Cunha is super talented but I’ve heard form several sources that he is a maverick

I don't think they will be able to steer the ship around to what Man U want, one of the two biggest trophies. One of them might be a Fernandes type fighting the tide pretty successfully but I doubt both will. It's always like this in their transfer summers (barring the Ten Haag ones which always looked pretty bricky). When they got Pogba, Sancho, Casimero, de Maria, etc etc. Signings really have to have an iron will and ability to match to make it there. They're at a huge disadvantage as a club. And it affects managers as badly if not worse.

Yeah because any team has 100% hit rates with transfers don't they? How many of Man Us incomings were from the PL last season vs abroad?

Dress it up any way you want they will both be good acquisitions...

A manager that gets a team working well helps makes those players look good.
A high level of professionalism in the squad sets the bar for new players to rise to.

They might be great, they might not. Just because they played in the premier league doesn't mean they'll succede.

Has anyone said they'd flop?

Personally think they have bought many talented players the last few years. But the atmosphere at the club is the problem. Which isn't the manager. Think many players have been given far too big wages for what they are worth.

Cunha seems a bit of a gamble tbh read a bit recently regarding how he is a bit of a maverick/doesn't like to play to a plan, also saw something about how he spends more time walking than any other player in the league 😂 - could be the next Cantona or could be a bad apple (and i say that as someone that wanted him here previously)

Also read that Almorin doesn't play with wingers, more so 2 x no.10 behind the strikers so that pulls in to question Mbuemo for them
