Just stopped at a small cafe/bar and asked for a tea. “
You want beer?”
“No, tea please”.
“Beer?”
“No, tea”.
“Tea and beer?”*.
The English are definitely in town!

* I was very close to “ok if you insist” but a rare flash of common sense came over me. It’s going to be a long day.

I first stopped off at a nice cafe in the centre for a coffee yesterday..sat outside in the sun.
A lady her daughter and son got talking to me (locals)...and she bought me another coffee. So sweet. Most of Bilbao are routing for us!

There are worse places to be, it's a nice City not too big and good mix of old and new, lots of pleasant places to sit and enjoy the sunshine and reflect on the trip.

My son is now in La Rochelle , having been designated driver for 6-8am stint this morning.

Getting back to the airport was a struggle last night. I started walking to the airport before I got some local to take me at 2am. I was on the first flight out at 6:45am. I spoke to two people at the airport who walked all the way from the town centre. Dedication.
