***OMT*** Tottenham Hotspur v Bodø/Glimt*** Europa League Semi-Final Second-Leg Thursday May 8th, KO 8pm

For what it's worth, I would play this team

Vicario

Spence Danso VDV Udogie

Romero

Porro Bissouma Bentancur Richarlison

Solanke.

But only if i had tried Romero in that defensive midfielder role months ago in training, friendlies, hard away games etc.... Too late now of course...

This debate about whether the winners of Europa should be in the Champions League is ridiculous.

They have more right then the 5/6th placed team in England. If we're gonna be real, go old skool and just make it the first placed team of each league and be done with it. No qualifiers for teams of so called lesser leagues either.

Win your league and you're in.
Is the way it should be. 👍

This week is dragging....
We should have more than enough to see this out
I really hope we play sensible and know when not to play it out, they have told us what they they will do and press
No shame in hoofing it long when needed, they showed very little with the ball
We need maximum brickhousing, kill the game at every chance, no fast restarts

My thoughts on whether EL winners should be in the CL - a resounding YES. You can come 5th in the PL now and qualify and come nowhere near to winning anything. A EL winner has to play 38 games lasts season to qualify for the EL. They then have to play another 15-20 games in the following season AND win the competition. Additionally, history tells us that because they have to focus on the latter stages of the CL, they massively reduce their chances of getting automatic CL places in their domestic league.

The way I think about it, Sky have just announced another 120 live games and will drag true supporters to their grounds on Friday evenings. There will be even more Sunday and Monday games and probably more Saturday evening fixtures. I'm way more interested in watching my team against a Norwegian side in a UEFA comp than I am against Ipswich or Saints. I'm more interested in any FA or League Cup game than I am against the bottom PL teams. I'd reduce the PL to 16 teams in an instant.

As for the super league concept, we need to get to the root cause first. When UEFA stop stealing a significant percentage of the broadcasting revenues and not handing them to the clubs, then I will be against the SL. Right now, I'm very open to killing every UEFA competition until that organization start playing fair with their true stakeholders.

Think you are pretty much on your own with that. Hence why tickets for prem games are more expensive than cup games. Hence why broadcasters pay so little for the rights to cup games in comparison to league games.

Missing Madders is a blow, obviously. I hope Kulu can step up, hasn't really looked himself these past few months. We should be winning this game, the quality level player by player is huge, and with physicality and most importantly determination - we will. Glimt were poor in the first leg, as they usually are away in Europe - let's hope we're on our toes and don't believe the people who think we're in the final already.

Yep, I probably am on my own.

It saddened me a lot to hear about the new Sky deal. They shat all over their customers during COVID. They happily made billions and billions of profit in the decade leading up to it, primarily from the sports packages. I was delighted to see Netflix kick their arses and stop their stupid pricing for the movies. I was hoping their stranglehold on PL would be seriously challenged by other broadcasters to weaken their pricing.

We all know Sky prices will go up again because of this new TV deal. I won't be subscribing.

The sports channels actually make a loss. Their money is made through the broadband.

Not on your own.

Nailed on we will concede in the opening 15 minutes while we are still adjusting to the pitch. Can see us going 2-0 down before HT but pulling one back in the 2nd half to set up a tense finish
Funny enough, I had a thought this afternoon that we went 2 nil up and were coasting. Then they got back to 2-2 and we were hanging on.

That is what we SHOULD do. But I don't think we will......and even when we "should" see things out. We rarely do

It's either that or we go 2 down. Either way this us gonna be nervy bum time whatever way it goes. Cos Spurs don't do easy

Probably why I'll go pub to watch it.
Did it for the Frankfurt away game and the combination of drink and conversation totally put me at ease. Only really looked up at the tv a few times when there was a collective 'ooh' or 'ah' and the 'that's got to be a fudging penalty' Maddison challenge.

14,700 is a better allocation than I thought would be for each finalist

Still ridiculous considering San Memes takes over 50k. How many seats do the clams in UEFA really need? Who gets the remaining 25k (!) tickets? A fudging disgrace in my book.

Proportion go to locals / neutrals via ballott thats closed - Rest corporate the figure above is before the club take theirs as well (I think) so not all to fans

I get that some locals should be able to go, but why not more fans of the clubs playing? Would make the atmosphere so much better, and give more of the people that care the most an actual chance to experience one of the nights of their lives.

Only now. Not in the period I was talking about. The years before COVID, Sky were delivering between a £1b and £1.5b profit back to Comcast.

Running one business unit that is intrinsically linked with another and then justifying price points on each separately. Sky chose to move from satellite dishes to broadband as the delivery vehicle knowing they were a minority ISP, plus BT owning most of the infrastructure. Sky aren't in control of their OPEX.
