***OMT*** Tottenham Hotspur v Bodø/Glimt*** Europa League Semi-Final Second-Leg Thursday May 8th, KO 8pm

This debate about whether the winners of Europa should be in the Champions League is ridiculous.

They have more right then the 5/6th placed team in England. If we're gonna be real, go old skool and just make it the first placed team of each league and be done with it. No qualifiers for teams of so called lesser leagues either.

Win your league and you're in.

Europa league would probably get more for tv rights then than the cl. As more bigger teams would be in it.

Quite a bit of a twisted Lord of the Rings theme going on.
I mean...Bilbao and Bodo Baggins, Norway basically Middle Earth. Let's hope by 'Pippin' the opposition in an 'Orc-ward' tie we'll all be 'Merry' and nursing a 'Sore-un'.
Bodo Gimli :D

I fully agree. I think we will have had a better season than any team that ends the season without a trophy if we win the competition.
We will never see the Champions League return to first only. It’s more and more like a Super League of sorts as time moves forward. See how we now have a league format. It’s crazy to think though that there could be as many as seven Premier League clubs in the Champions League next season if we, or United, win the Europa League, and Arsenal somehow win the CL but finish outside of the top 5.

Ta-daaaaaaa!
This season has had twists, turns, and a lot of farts which should not have been trusted.
Yet here we are.
On the cusp of a European Final for the first time since 2019. Which was the first time since 1984. Which was the first time...you get it. These things don't happen very often, certainly not as often as they should for us given that we're, well, us.
So let's have it.
Let's finish the job we started.
Let's bask in Romero leading us like a warrior! Let's roar as Vicario defies the laws of physics and gravity. Let's cheer as VdV charges in to steal every last ball. And let's scream with delight when Udogie and Porro show their will, pace, and grace in tough moments.
fudge the plastic...and fudge the past. This is NOW and NOW is OUR time!
No doubt we'll be who we are, and the collective squeak of N17-favoured ars-ese will becomne cacophonous at aroundn 9.57pm UK Time, but let us BELIEVE and let us understand that as a football club, we are the ONLY ones who can put a foot around the back of our heads, stand on one leg with our eyes closed and look fantastic doing it! We can bend, stretch, lose shape and then suddenly SNAP INTO GLORIOUS BODILY UNION!
WE ARE YOGA...which is an anagram for...

GO YA!

Oliver Reed didn't give a fu ck, he went for it. He knew the score. So do we...

Which means COYMFS!

This is why the hysteria that Sky managed to whip up over the Super League was a load of gonads. They were just worried about thier viewing numbers going down not the 'integrity of the game'.

It already is a Super League, engineered to give the top clubs more chance of being in it and less chance of being knocked out .

We never make anything easy for ourselves, i reckon either 2-0 down within 20 minutes or a player sent off in the first half.

The super league was going to replace the cl. Which sky doesn't have rights to. So not sure how it would have effected their viewing figures?

Nailed on we will concede in the opening 15 minutes while we are still adjusting to the pitch. Can see us going 2-0 down before HT but pulling one back in the 2nd half to set up a tense finish

Cause an argument was that there would be less interest in league football and that clubs would treat it like the CC and field weaker teams etc. It was viewed as more direct competition to domestic football.

There is no doubt it would. Without qualifying for europe, if you are out of the title race you'd have nothing to play for come march.
It would have eventually killed off domestic football.

With no relegation from the superleague a lot of teams in the superleague would have little to play for. It would have killed football.

Don't see how that's any different to football now.

The same teams play in the CL every season. It's now changed formats so that teams can't get knocked out and there are more places on offer than ever before. There would have been 5 places assigned to the non permant teams based on league postition in the SL, and it was 2, 10 team leagues, with the games to have been played midweek.

Now you have the race for the title. A battle for a cl place (forest and villa still have a shout). A battle for a europa league place. A conference league place. Also most seasons the battle to avoid the drop would still be going on.
Most teams in the pl will have something to play for going into the last few games of the season.

Relegation from the PL would still exist

Outside the clubs that are in the CL every season, there would still be those trying to get in the SL via the league positional finish. If the SL was about now, Forest and Villa would be in the exact same position, trying to finish as high as possible to get in.

I would have been against the SL if it was the old skool format of CL, EL and Cup Winners Cup, top 2 in CL etc. But as the CL is now, and what it's been moulded into, it's hard to see much difference. Yeah theoretically Leyton Orient could win the CL but what are the odds? It's all just more games to make more money.

Do you think that the top 4/5/6 should be in the CL, while teams that win their league have to qualify from certain countries?

There would have been no league position that got you into the sl. It was a closed shop that they might invite a handful of clubs to join each season. It would be their choice who those clubs were though. Think it was 4 a season. From across europe.

As for your question. Yes. I'd rather see real madrid in the cl next season than the champions of malta.

I was gutted when we conceded that late goal against them last week and I now don't feel anywhere near as confident as I would have done. The injury news hasn't helped of course.....

And then I think about Man U in the final and my feeling of doom gets even worse. I just can't see us beating them for the 4th time this season and even whey they are rubbish they manage to win things . I can see the headlines about how the wait for a trophy goes on, the lack of a winning mentality etc....

Sorry to be negative but that's what supporting the mighty and glorious Tottenham Hotspur for nearly 60 years has done to me.....

COYS .

If so is not. The super league was going to be a fixed shop with their own rules and dominated by self interest.
