*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Everton FC ***

Annoying to lose two points at the end, but we were tireing and it wasn't surprising.

You gotta wonder who sets up the schedule so that the team with the latest kickoff in the last round gets the earliest kickoff in the next.

Touch game against the Liverpool Kloggers, and a point up there is not didastrous by any means, but I can't help thinking we might've gotten the win with a bit more rest.
I dont think its the first time this season its happened to us, and something tells it wont be the last

Regards the penalty shout not awarded via VAR. I am not surprised one bit. Stuart Attwell in the studio, was never going to happen

I am actually amazed we were awarded the penalty we did get earlier this season. We wont be getting any VAR pens this season, going to have to wait until next season

I am absolutely done with protecting sides and managers who play this way. I know I know, we should control what we can control, understand that not everyone plays football-football, but this sort of brick needs calling out. Dyche is like some celebrity brontosaurus, ‘a good lad’ and all that. I’ve met him, chatted with him, and he IS a ‘good lad’ but his approach to football stinks, and it needs to be called out. As for the ref/VAR combos, well, Ange is right, the likes of Dyche and Frank play the margins knowing they’ll get far more than they lose.

To everyone who says we need to be tougher, I agree to an extent, but tell me, you think Romero’s getting away with what Norgaards and Tarkowskis are doing? Does Bissouma get away with what Young does? We need to find a way for sure, but we also need to call out this sort of brick.
Don't get me started on Young. One of the sh1tiest of sh1thouses. Always on the wind up, always leaving something in, slowing the game down when it suits, always in the ref's ear. He's the football equivalent of toe jam.

Said it to a few mates at work, they're not having it.
But if you look closely over the years there's been so many times we've been tucked up in the days between games.
Been out all day after work and watching the rugby so a little bit typsy so won't comment further.
Apart from Arsenal played Tuesday evening and play tomorrow, we played Wednesday and first thing Saturday!!

Maybe it's because others have been such more guilty of it but I didn’t see Everton do much wrong today.
The corner thing was always going to happen after last week, that's down to the ref. Can only think he's had a word with them at half time, don't see why they would stop it otherwise.
As for giving up control of the middle of the pitch, we never had it to give it up. At best it was even.
We retreated because they were fresher and had players able to play in the system.
This and the Brentford games are exactly what I was expecting three months ago, the great start has blinded people and raised expectations, city have spent £bs and don't win every game playing "pepball", the expectation that we should is Laughable, and some of you should know better.

That was a foul by Deki, though, and a silly one at that, too.
It was but there were a succession of them preceding the goal with the crowd orchestrating the ref.

Obviously the biggest issue was our failure to put away a third goal. Maddison shooting a bit too straight, Warner lacking some conviction and timing etc

Doesn't really put a team away though does it? You're still open to the last of Wimbleton's lumps into the mixer finding it's target, unless you've got enough cushion on the scoreboard for it not to matter.

Obviously better possession of the ball would help us create more at the other end.
And that's why Maddison should have stayed on.

Good point, if you have to see a game out , bring on strength and grit, experience too. We had Royal and Davies on the bench. I don't necessarily agree we had to see the game out but at least provide the personel to do it of that is the decision.

The Romero header was unlucky I guess, it can happen. Fine margins. But it was coming, I could feel the tension.
I agreed with the first two subs but even though I'm not Royals biggest fan , I would have brought him on for Porro who I thought had a bad first half.
Davies is also a decent shout , he's gritty and determined and puts his body on the line when he has to, which was needed today. Maddison definitely should have stayed on and probably one of Bentancur or Holberg had to stay on tas well , they have experience to see games out.

You say call them out but to what end? Theres no rile that says you must play football in a particular or style. You might not like or enjoy his football but so what?

There are rules which say you cannot directly obstruct a goalkeeper via physical interference. There are rules which say you cannot throw people to the floor in the penalty box. And there are veery clear rules with regards to yellow card offenses i.e. diving to try and win a decision. How about to those ends. As for me not liking the way those rule-bendings are continually deployed by his sides, are you suggesting I should just shut up and accept it? No thanks.

For my stress levels I may have to stop watching the last 10min of our games for a bit. I also have to remember that other teams let in goals late as well. But I don't care about them.

I guess what's frustrating is that we give a helping hand for them to score. And not being done with some sublime piece of play which I could take

And yet if we did it, would get called out for. I am going to be bold and say this.....if we get another pen this season and see someone get sent off for 2 offensives, having made 300 challenges, I will........go on holiday

And that's a good point cos if refs cannot abide by those basics. Then we have no chance when it comes to subjectives.

Refs let dissent go, against Chelsea James elbowed someone....I mean. And it's just not our games. When City went ballistic cos ref stopped their attack. I mean 12 people were screaming at him and did anyone get a card??

Universally if refs just agreed on at least the basics then at least it may help a little

We've conceded injury time goals in 8 matches this season. Is that a reflection of how poor our options off the bench are?

Just anecdotal from me watching games, but it feels like this season there’s been a real increase in late goals across the league. But breaking down the ones we’ve conceded:
  • 1 v Everton costly
  • 2 v Chelsea, taking it from 2-1 to 4-1 with 9 men
  • 1 v Saudi Sportswashing Machine to make it 4-1
  • 2 v Wolves, very costly
  • 1 v Palace to make it 2-1 (was nearly 2-2 though)
  • 1 v Burnley to make it 5-2
So we’ve dropped 5 points from them. On the other side, we’ve scored stoppage time goals:
  • 2 v Sheffield United
  • 1 v Liverpool
  • 1 v Emirates Marketing Project
Earning us 6 points. Not sure there’s a whole lot to be taken out of that myself, other than we should have killed a couple of games off earlier than we did.

Agreed mostly. I think people need to start calling out Dyche. He’s a dinosaur. His ‘football’ is agricultural to be polite. As for the reffing and VAR today, appalling again. CLEAR obstruction for the first goal (it is in the rules you cannot do that) regardless of whether Vic was strong or not, Van De Ven wrestled to the floor from a corner - clear pen and VAR sees nothing- Godfrey a blatant dive second-half which (by the book) is a yellow which would’ve been is second yellow…no-one will say anything, like no-one questioned how Norgaard remained on the pitch midweek…I think Ange got the subs wrong personally, I’d most certainly have been bringing Donely on instead of Gil, and we ceded any control when we took off Madders, Bents and Hojberg (you need one of those for the full 100 mins - despite himself, you’d have backed Hojberg to help see that out)…I’m sure Ange will have learnt from today…

i'm all for different styles of play - agricultural or prehistoric too - makes the game interesting. but the refs need to be on top of the rules and spirit of the game. backing into a player with no intent to play the ball is always a foul. trying to tip over a player while he is in the air should be yellow card as its dangerous. we need the FA or even pundits reviewing referee decisions more seriously with the aim of educating the masses of fans and future footballers in the spirit of "fair play"

ange has said we need the ball up the pitch all the time. to me hojberg is the issue as he can't progress consistently well and when he makes a mistake he seldom rushes back quickly enough to salvage the situation (resulting in one of the goals yesterday). yes he may be battler in our half but if he's doing well there - it ain't angeball. he is a big step down from Bissouma.

unforutnately brian gil is just too lightweight and i can't wait for Son to be back.

good job for richy to get those two goals, but his hold up play isn't consistent and he can be seen often with poor balance and first touch causing unnecessary turnovers.

There was a var check for the bear hug on Johnson I think. It was clear holding and a foul, yet nothing given
Shock horror
