The Future Squad

We are averaging 2 goals a game I believe and have set a record for consecutive games scored
Scoring isn’t the issue IMO
It’s tempo control to kill games off
That's the system not the forward line. Imagine how much better we could be doing and will do in future with a compentant forward line. That Villa game turns into a win, as does the West Ham match. The United draw becomes 3 points for us. That would put us 8 points better off this season.

This year is the begining so no problem, but I'd rather not continue to rue the lack of quality in the final 3rd impacting our ability to be as successful as possible.

In a year's time you will be saying the same things I am right now. 😂

Veliz only got injured on New Year’s Eve. Richarlison missed what 3 weeks or so? Granted Solomon and Perisic would have been useful options but it’s not even debatable that the first choice forwards; Son, Kulu, Johnson have been largely available besides the Asian cup
Richy has missed 3 weeks
But was injured from last season. Post op he is scoring goals at a great rate
Johnson wasn’t brought to start games yet as regularly imo
The lack of irons hasn’t helped any of them

I’m all for improvements
We arguably have the best defence in the league now
If we match that up top then it’s an unreal side

But you need your forwards to rack up goals. It’s great being able to spread the goals around but the towards are more often than not the ones who kill off games for you.
Yep
And look at our goals scored column
If you take out the odd freak game that every side has had bar us and city… we’re the 3rd highest scorer
And that’s when missing played

I believe he took a punt like most transfers. I won’t go as far as saying they haven’t worked because that would be premature and silly but I think we all know when a signing hits the ground running and it’s immediately obvious that they are upgrades I.e. Van De Ven and Maddison.

I understand your point but how many signings at any team hit the ground running. Most signings need time to fit into a new team and set up. I would hazard a guess and say that most take time to show how good they are.

That's where I am, there has to be a period of settled normality before we start changing for change sake. I bet Ange would like better but I also think he would love to be settled and get to work

From his history i'm not sure. Didn't he shift 18 players in his time at celtic?

Do you think Ange has made the mistake of believing the arrivals of Johnson and Werner have upgraded the forward posistions?
I think those players have upgraded the forward positions, compared to where we were before they signed (post Kane).

But us being linked with a significant money move for Nusa also indicates that Ange knows that there's plenty of room for improvement in the forward line still.

I also think Johnson was signed in part because of what he could become medium to long term not just how good he would be for the first half a season. Probably more to come from him.

Yeh I assume those who were there historically who he didn't want. Half the side now are either his players or players he rates now so would be shocked if he doesn't want a more settled period than we have had so far

But we have been playing with an injured richarlison…
Kulu being moved to play 10
And everyone being run into the ground
So I can’t agree
Can everyone stop saying we've been run into the ground. Yes, it will always be handy to have someone to rotate in BUT our schedule has been as light as it c.ould of been. The only thing that has run some of these athletes into the ground is 'full throttle' training... something we are in control of. 90mins a week is all they are being asked to play on average, I bet some teams are 7-8 games ahead of us in fixtures played.

I take your point but at the same time we could and should upgrade the forwards as it’s the one area in the team that could do with upgrades. That doesn’t mean Johnson and Werner can’t still raise their level and become top players.

Again.. the schedule thing is a myth
Look at the timing of our games… the Friday then Sunday then Friday set up which has happened plenty is not normal
We have one week with 9 days in between and then one week with 4/5 days
It’s odd
Then we have players getting injured normally but an incredibly high volume which means the attacking players are playing every game.. hence the comment

Meh. The same attackers have been playing all the time because we have no depth of quality and actual questionable starting quality in the forward 3. Scheduling is not the issue.

Yet you're happy to just keep the same guys that we can see aren't it?

No
I’m saying I’d like to see them in front of the right midfield before judge
Porro looks miles better with Ange here and playing with a better defence alongside him
It’s possible that the attack we have, the third highest scoring the league, may be even better with the right midfield behind it

Can not d isagree with that at all, we should always look to improve ( and there is always room for improvement in every team). having said that i also believe that all players we sign should be given the time and chance to show what they can do. Players like Johnson need ( and imo deserve) to be given that chance. (not saying you are not giving him/them time but it seems others are)

Do not disagree really, we should be looking at upgrading the team all the time ( if possiable), which is actually what we have been doing since Ange arrived. What is that old saying Rome was not built in a day. :)

Blimey...a myth??...we will play 41 games.

However that's scheduled we will have plenty of time for rest.

GHod knows what would happen if we had Europe and all the travelling that comes with it (and we will next season).

The players are getting injured because of the training intensity. (Ange even acknowledges this himself). Hence a load of muscle injuries.

And as for the same players having to play....don't we always think another team is lucky when they can pick an unchanged side most weeks?

Come on
when you play more, you train less
And volume isnt the issue
It’s timing
As I’ve said, they have been really daft with the scheduling we have had
