***TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Wolves OMT***

People singling out individual players are, I think, wide of the mark. This was a collective poor performance throughout.

The defence looked shakey and if Wolves were better finishers we'd have been a couple down earlier. The midfield was a bloody mess with zero creativity, and seeming to not know who was meant to be where. The attackers were also poor with tinkle-poor final balls constantly thwarting any attacks we had.

The one thing I noticed was an utter lack of pace through the team, and the team looking very lethargic. Son and Kulu in particular had opportunities to quickly chase down misplaced passed out of their defence and were so slow to react the defender could rectify with no issue.

Less annoyed about this than Monday night, under the circumstances this was always going to be a difficult game.
Monday we threw it away.
I'm more annoyed at this! I think mainly cos after we self imploded on Monday, granted. We put in a good account of ourselves. Today not do much. And just livid cos last 10min were like how crap can we be??

Yeah couldn’t understand the commentary saying we were great defensively. We were far from it. They got in behind a few times and it was just great last ditch tackles that saved us. We had no control of that game and, defensively, we were riding our luck big time.

That comes down to our depth and quality in squad then. Here's hoping the next 3 windows we don't see anyone left over from the 5 previous managers reign

Yeah
We could have done with him or bentacur starting
I'd like to think Ange is giving the next cab off the rank a chance to show they are not good enough, I've not been a fan of Lo Celso, but I can't see how he would have been worse than Hojberg, same applies to Phillips/Dorrington and Dier.

Hojberg being out the side has made him a better player in peoples minds.

To be honest most of the blame needs to go the managers way, I know he has his philosophy and playing style..
But this is not Scotland or Japan.. when you are winning away from home with half your team missing, you cannot just keep chasing games ..its suicide in this league and he quickly needs to realise it....

Hojberg when he has come in has been very good
He loves the ball much quicker than Bissouma
But none of the midfielders today that started are 10s .. he played sarr in that role and it didn’t work for him
that was Ange testing his players out imo

In hindsight you could questioning Ange making it worse by moving more inform players out of position, maybe keeping Sarr/Biss deeper and putting someone further forward was the answer.

That was the answer
But then why have Players he won’t play
Lo celso came on and we moved the ball much quicker through midfield

Hojberg was poor with his start today. As a trio there wasn't the usual balance plus Hojberg individually struggles in the short sharp passing game. He gave it away numerous times and sometimes directly to Wolves. The second goal started off from him passing straight to Wolves for no good bloody reason. Coming in to help hold games we already have won is a different mindset and requirement than what was needed today. He really should have been the one to go off instead of Sarr because his care of the ball just wasn't there today.

I'm not even remotely worked up by that loss, because it was fairly predictable.
We completely lost disiplin against Chelsea, and it looked like a "wheels coming off" moment with all the suspensions and injuries.
And so far it looks like it. We were really poor for most of the game.

For me and I don't say this in hindsight I would have kept the usual balance just started with either Bentancur or Lo Celso in place of maddsion. Neither quite matches him but it would be a more familiar system and way of playing than what we tried today.

Exactly, too similar, almost get in each others way and not the system we have played all year. I know we lost Mads but anyone to come.in to play that free role that Mads enjoyed would IMO have see better from Bissouma too.

Not having that link from midfield to attack also makes Son isolated and almost redundant

It was Ange given him a chance to play a way that we have seen he can’t do
He is good at stretching teams playing that way
Or even in the role sarr played today
Instead we shuffled the pack and it was a bad mix of cards

100%
Said it before the game
Stand by it
Someone who will retain the ball in the final third and try the harder stuff

Like wise. I’d have kept Bissouma as the deep CM, kept Sarr as RCM and played with Lo Celso or Bentancur as LCM in Maddison’s place.

——-Biss——
Sarr———GLC/R Bent

No great change to the balance of the midfield then.

We've seen with Hojberg in the past he struggles when people put pressure on him, he seems to panic and lose it.

He has a habit of just switching off and losing runners as well.

He needs upgrading.

It's going to be a long few weeks while we wait for players returning from suspension and injuries
