The Official Olympic Thread

Okay, I'll attempt to be serious a moment. First of all, as much as it pains me to say, I'm enjoying the Team GB good fortune. As long as it aint the yanks or chinese. Of course I love it when you fail, and there's been enough sour grapes and poor sportsmanship to keep me entertained (Cavendish, female triathletes, team pursuit).

Thoroughly enjoying these games in spite of Australias poor showing.

Fair play. You must be the only Aussie in Aussieland who is!!

And it seems the 3 Athletics golds escaped your attention! ;)

Still got high hopes for Pearson, Men's Hockey, Women's track Sprint and Water Polo. Apparantly were looking okay in sailin as well. 5 golds ain't too shabby.

I get quite emotional watching the interviews right after. Seeing Ennis in tears after she won the Gold, so proud.

But I got really upset when I saw thr rowers who came 2nd yesterday morning and they thought they had let the country down by only getting Silver.
No you didnt mate, not in the slightest

What a day!

Rowing gold for the men's four, scullling gold for the lighweight women's double, gold and yet another world record for the women's team sprinters at the velodrome, another personal best and a coronation for Jessica Ennis at the Olympic stadium, a jump from nowhere by Greg Rutherford, and the prefect race from Mo Farrah ...

... and then a loss on penalties in the football.

Brilliant! Have to say, looks excellent the way you laid it out Marky! Very colourful and quite inspirational!

Yes. Its good to see some of the papers havent forgotten they were 5 other Gold medal winners yesterday. Jess Ennis did marvellous and quite rightly receives a lot attention, but so do the others.

Think the Telegraph has got it spot on with theirs

I think he was saying it as a postee NOT a mod. are you denying him the right to post an opinion now simply because he's a mod? You're better than that mate, I know you are.

No Jord has shown his hatred for all things british in this thread several times its basically a form of racism, being told not to over do the celebrations was ridiculous too...

Im proud to be British and if people dont like our self indulgent posting then maybe dont read the thread or post in it, its simple really, were not doing anything wrong by celebrating our success in this Olympic

Greene
Pendleton

Think the papers have it right. Its the athletics which encompasses the olympics more than the other sports. Thats why last night was special.

Not meaning to denigrate the rowing/cycling teams achievements.
