Gutted it looks like we haven’t gone all out for Nagelsmann. The guys a winner, reckon that prob scares Levy

You often see clubs, or the FA with England managers, often swing the opposite way to solve the problem with the previous guy.

Therefore, rightly or wrongly, if there is a view that JN is arrogant for example, he might have had a better chance if he'd followed Nuno rather than Conte

Utterly underwhelmed by the prospect of Slot but that may be partly fuelled by my own ignorance because I don't watch much Dutch football.

To be honest, hire Nagelsmann, Pep or Klopp and I'm still struggling to get enthusiastic about the whole thing. So I'm not sure there is a manager I could get excited about - I'm just feeling a bit fatigued with the club and the continuous bobbing between looking like we might challenge and utter mediocrity. I need the summer to get away from Spurs for a while.

It quite of feels like the Timmeh days, only worse because we've had 3.5 years of the dross.

We just have to hope that what comes next again is a warm, charismatic unifying manager, and a team with a big academy core

You have to remember the way our club is run and the state of the current squad.

Due to that Slot would appear to be perfect for us.

As I have said before we have to wait a few years and hope the new ffp rules curtail our rivals somewhat allowing us to be more competitive.

Is he?
I mean how do you know ?
Trophy wise be has won things at Bayern
His replacement has actually roostered it up yet people would have loved him here…
So Julian has won one title at Bayern and some cup thing that I believe is the charity shield equivalent
Is that a winner?

C'mon @Hotspur75, we need some more ITC.

Nothing much to report here that hasn't been reported already. De Telegraaf, the country's biggest (populist) newspaper - who are usually ITK about things Ajax and Feyenoord - says that Wednesday will be crunch day, when Slot's agent Rafaela Pimenta (Mino Raiola's successor) meets with Feyenoord. There was a long interview with her in another broadsheet recently (in Dutch: https://www.nrc.nl/nieuws/2023/04/2...s-zegt-zaakwaarnemer-rafaela-pimenta-a4162705), which emphasized that the only thing she cares about is what her clients want. So the question is: What does Arne want? Slot said quite emphatically yesterday that he wants it sorted one way or another as soon as possible. De Telegraaf says that it's now "only about the price" that we have to pay in order to get him, and have moved on to speculating how much he will be making at Spurs, and how Kökçü may well be joining him.

We have appointed two "winners" already and that didn't get us too far. Probably because said winners looked down on us. I posted an article from the Athletic a couple of weeks ago that made a very good point: being a "winner" doesn't translate to winning. Playing winning football does. We need a manager that plays winning football and Slot seems to tick that box, in addition to a whole host of others.

Thanks for the info.

Getting "our players" to play winning football seems the challenge.

Feyenoord fan in peace checking in :toppa:

Just want to say that you will be very lucky to get Slot. He is by far the best manager we've ever had. He has ten Hag's tactical nous, but is a much better communicator that creates a real positive siege mentality. He performed absolute miracles on a shoestring budget this season. Ajax' budget is 3 times ours and PSV started the season with Gakpo and Madueke. 8 of our starting 11 left in the summer (after he guided us to a European final), we bought a load of cheap unknown players, yet he's built an incredible team, we're 10 points clear at the top, lost only 1 league game, beat Ajax away for the first time in 18 years (scoreline 2-3 ), were 5 minutes away from an EL semi and played beautiful football along the way. I genuinely can't think of a single foot he's put wrong over the last 2 years, and Spurs sounds like the perfect project for him.

Really hope he stays though

Nah. looks like it's done and dusted

From a Feyenoord fan posting in the spurs fans thread on a mixed supporters board.

I remember a Saints fan coming on here talking up Pochettino when we looked like getting him/had got him and that turned out pretty well so I'll take this as a good omen.

Yes, based on what I have seen from Feyenoord in the last two years, this is exactly the reason why I think we should give Slot the job. Just goes to show that some fans have a much sharper view on the how and the why than many of the professional hacks. As if we didn't know that already.

I'm just not entirely sure about the "siege mentality" he mentions, I think that the Feyenoord fan's inherent inferiority complex is getting the better of him there. There is not a shred of Mourinho's rancour with Slot. Instead his main strength, in my view from a little further away, is that he is very open when it comes to communication - with the media, as we have seen in the last few days, and also with his players. Players who were not in the starting 11 - both last season and this season - praised him for being straight about why they were not picked, and performed for him when he needed them.

Looks like Arne is the new manager.. when they start talking about saying no to an offer in the media, is just to say after; we tried all that we could…
He looks like the right medic for Spurs now. The only problem for me is that Im not shoure Kane will be a part of this project… I think maybe he would with JN or poch. That is realy sad, we hadde one of the World best strikers and didnt make it.. Kane loves this Club, and he stayed to be a hero here and not a good player at real like someone els…
