He’ll go wherever he wants. Wherever that is he will earn just as much (and likely more) than he does at Spurs and have a bigger chance of winning things as the club he goes to will prioritise winning things over just trying to finish 4th.

Don’t United have some salary cap now which is less than Kane currently earns??

tbh I think he is in a tough spot if we hold onto him, if he fancies a project/risk and to emulate Shearer maybe Saudi Sportswashing Machine is an option but otherwise leaves Chelsea really. City won’t be losing Haaland anytime soon and unless the intend to play Kane as AM he won’t be interested in the rotation there
 
Not speaking to Poch, if even just for PR and optics is one of the most baffling decisions of all time.

Easy enough to then say both parties had different ideas for the project, but to not get him in a room....

Because logically he would be better than having Mason in charge, as much as I like Mason; Because logically he is the best fit for Spurs as he has already been successful in that position; Because it is utterly stupid not to even speak to him and just let one of our most hated rivals appoint him. Because the only available manager who could be better than him is Nagelsmann, but there are huge questions about his man management skills. Plus would Nagelsmann even come here, to the club that rarely enhances a manager's reputation? He is young and still building a name for himself.

If anyone appointing was to take fans comments on tactics seriously then we would never appoint any manager. Lots of great managers don't have a plan B or their teams cannot break down teams who defend deep. We recently parted company with one.

Finally you appoint the best manager available it doesn't matter if you go back to one who was previously successful if they are potentially the right fit. He is the one manager we have appointed since the start of the PL era who consistently upset the odds and almost won us the biggest prizes in club football.

I mean really? Do we still have to ask the question about why those clubs would be better options than spurs?

Utd are still largely a mess, winning the league cup and getting CL because everyone else is in an even bigger mess shouldn't hide that.
They will probably finish the league closer to villa and Brighton than they will to whoever finishes second.
Not to say that they won't improve next season of course.

I'd be curious to learn about the 'logic' in question. Your opinion is as valid as the next guy's but logic implies something that could be demonstrated or proven. Where's the proof? Each and every appointment is a gamble: nobody thought we'd play a CL final when Pochettino was appointed. Nobody thought Harry Redknapp would lead a Spurs side in the CL either. In my opinion, there's no logic in football: just odds, opinions and hindsight. But I'm not having a go and I'd be happy to be proved wrong if this wasn't a figure of speech.

When and where?

If anyone appointing was to take fans comments on tactics seriously then we would never appoint any manager. Lots of great managers don't have a plan B or their teams cannot break down teams who defend deep. We recently parted company with one.

That's your opinion and your entitled to it. Mine is he struck it lucky with the players we already had were young, hungry and fit the style of play he wanted. The core was already here, when he tried to upgrade mostly he failed more then he succeeded - that's not to say Toby or Wanyama were not successes but can name plenty who were not. He is a good motivator, i think he used what he inherited very well and improved some of them too leading to our most succesful period in the PL but we are in a different time now, the core of the squad is not there, the average player age is much higher, Harry Kane can not press like he used to and we lack a creative spark that we had from Eriksen or the distribution capability from the like of Verts (wont mention Toby as that was his signing). Signing the right manager is not easy, we could sign Poch and end up 2pts from 8 games OR we could sign Slot for example and be top of the league after 8 games or any combination inbetween but what we absolutely have to do is sign someone who a) has a vision on how the club should move forward, b) can work with the players we have currently as we wont change the entire 1st team squad in one window and c) needs to be able instil confidence within the players, while still changing the mentality/culture of the club.

Well we're likely to be going down the young & hungry player route again (if we can get our transfers right) so there's one tick. Proven in the Prem there's another, we likely need to clear out some established players and build a new team, another tick. We need/want to play attacking/entertaining football, We need vision, we need to work with the players here, we need to instill confidence tick tick tick. But hey in 5 years he made a few decisions that proved to be wrong/were questionable show me a manager who hasn't over the same time frame (hell i see more questionable decisions made in a far shorter timeframe from each of his successors) so is that really enough to write off 5 years of good results/performance?
 
Poch being sold as a non long term project manager is laughable. I wasn't even in the bring him back camp but he clearly is a fit for what we require.
 
Looks like chelsea will get him so Poch is out of the running. But from what I’ve read in the comments, Levy didn’t even put him in the running

The other has chairmen who are pretending to sell the club to keep the fans off their back
