Yes, pretty much every one, it's called the Peter Principle.

I don't agree that's the case for Levy though, as the football strategy he's overseen has been an inarguable success, it's a football club, everything is part of the football strategy. In all of the decisions he's had to make, the mistakes are a low percentage.

The fixation on trophy count (a wider point, not specific to you @Benny_Lad as its not something you said in your post) whilst ignoring the inequality in funding and the individual player errors at key moments, on the cusp of trophies, is unfair on Levy imo. To use an NFL analogy, he's repeatedly marched us 99 yards down the field, only for us to cough it up on the 1 yard line.

He’s been amazing for the club. But since Poch - nothing has come good from a football aspect. Actually - he probably got it wrong before then, by letting 3 windows pass without funding Poch.

Is there another industry (particularly multi billion pound) where someone who is unequipped for a particular element of the business gets to make so many decisions for that element? Why is Levy anywhere near the football strategy? And gets to remain in that position despite so many failures?

He's appointed a DoF - other than blaming Levy out of habit there's no reason to be thinking he's making footballing decisions atm

was CL qualification last year not good?

was Kane and Son setting the PL partnership record not good?

the football aspect is the only aspect, the stadium, the training ground, the merchandising, its all football aspect, its all interlinked

which got us CL against all odds last season

what a massive mistake that was

Conte admits himself we were fortunate with injuries and had no other comps to worry about, and we were also fortunate that Arsenal somewhat coughed up.

Are you happy with the football side of things? Strategy-wise? Can you see what being attempted? Maybe it’s just me that can’t see it.

I don't believe in fortune in professional sport, or anywhere really, if you analyse anything deeply enough all pretty much always physics

yeah, I can, he's trying to get us playing the same way Inter did under him, but he doesn't have all of the pieces in place yet, when he does, those already here will be well drilled in the scheme and things will come together more quickly

it's a modular approach, that everyone on the club side has been transparent will take multiple windows to achieve, he's barely had a year

Ok. Who hired Paritici? And ultimately signed off on this Conte contract?
Levy. You're complaining that Levy is making decisions that he's not qualified to make. He got someone that is qualified to make those decisions.
He's done what you wanted so what's the problem besides it taking away something for you to moan at Levy about?

Ok so who is responsible for the current shambles? Or is it not a shambles and have I been hoodwinked by Twitter?

There's somewhat of a hoodwinking going on - how many years have the fanbase been talking about needing a rebuild? Well we're in bloody middle of one and in these periods form can be erratic, we should be trying to be understanding of this rather than protestinh owners and whipping up a storm because we're having to go through it.

Look no further than Arsenal & Arteta with his first 2 or 3 seasons in charge whilst they shifted out the players not required and brought in new players - it took time before things started to click on the pitch, it wasn't until last season that they started to look like they had the makings of a decent team and that's because by that point they had had more transfer windows and opportunities to bring about change in the playing staff - we're currently in that initial phase, just over a year of Conte being here and we've not yet seen the back of the third window in which we can try to address the squad balance (2 of which being January windows). Arsenal at the same juncture were heading towards a second 8th place finish on the spin.

Apologies, I mean the strategy from above. So all is good and the club have this contract thing under control? And the club are on board with giving Conte what he needs to fulfil what you mention above?

If you want to believe what's on Twitter or any social media that's your problem.
My bad. I look forward to Conte putting pen to paper, Kane putting to paper, and the board backing Conte in the transfer market to implement his strategy. Panic over!!

I think the strategy from above is sound, we have a DoF now, the plan is for the manager to be as replaceable as the players, the contract is the one all involved agreed on to take us forward, the squad will be rebuilt as the right players become available

I don't think the length of contract affects the effort a professional puts in

yeah, I'm happy, I think we are in a good place, I can't understand the panic I see

Maybe I’ve not explained my frustration clearly. I rate Levy. He’s been harshly treated by lots of fans. I just feel the strategy looks a bit aimless at times. Like now with the contract business. Do you think we will make any strategic signings before the close of the window? And the Kane contract situ coinciding with the Conte contract situ?

The strategy currently appears to be allow the DoF to oversee a squad rebuild and back him financially to a level we have never been able to before in our history. Do you expect a squad rebuild to just work from the off without any setbacks along the way? Keep in mind we finished in the top 4 last season and despite the poor form/football are in with a shout this season, so i don't think it's half as bad as what is being made out tbqh

The noise over Conte's contract, the poor football and Arsenal doing so well is what is contributing most to the negativity atm

Conte has been backed more than any other manager in our history with some really good signings in the last two windows. There's no certainties but I'd be fairly confident that we'll get two signings (permanent or on loan with option to buy) before the window closes.
The contracts are a bit different, Conte has said the recent deaths of his friends has given him a different outlook on life, so he may want to return to Italy. The thing is do we have a plan to replace him. I'd hope Paratici has had some feelers out for the managers that he thinks would be good replacements and we don't have the same situation as with Nuno coming in.
I can't see Kane signing a new contract and if not it's time to sell. There's always going to be contract situations, part and parcel of football. I think Levy does well on contracts in general, compare it to the amount of players that Arsenal have lost on frees due to letting players run down their contracts.

I think the issue is that the football has been poor recently and that is the only reason there are any complaints.

You cant say he has been backed the most in the clubs history! You have to account for inflation.

We signed Greaves for a british record £99,999 which in todays footballing world money is basically like £150m.

Yes and I agreed with this until I’d seen what a disgraceful window we are having where we have clearly identified two players to improve us and we are putting in pathetic bids tinkling off the selling clubs.

That is a strategy that has all the hallmarks of Levy that has cost us countless transfers over the years or at best saved a couple of million and the player comes late in the window.

Negotiating is one thing but Levy takes this to a whole new level, its clearly what he lives for and gives him a serious hard on when it comes off.
