OMT - Tottenham vs Portsmouth, FA Cup 3rd Round, 2022-23

Not too bad a draw for us. Preston away, tricky but doable. Winners of City v. Chelsea play at home to Arsenal; Brighton at home to Liverpool or Wolves.

That's a good draw for us with the other big sides in mind - could come out the other side with Liverpool & Arsenal knocked out and only one of City or Chelsea to worry about

mmmm can understand people moving seats..but if we had just mums and kids creating the atmosphere we wouldn,t win anything!
come to think of it we havn't
We had 3 Essex wide boys next to us shouting "Mate, he's brick" every time Gil touched the ball. They were wrong a lot of the time, but it wasn't the lack of objective analysis that bothered me most, it was the fact one of them was a dad and the other 2 must have been no more than 13 and 9 respectively... Classy.

Can someone please point me to the media noting that 6 of our starting 11 were under 23? Other clubs have that plastered all over the place and I must have missed that about our game.

Impossible, Conte doesn’t play young players.

I thought it was great, we never had the two regular idiots behind us who moan from the team being announced until they go home, plus the bonus of not having the mugs who have 3 or 4 pints before the game and have to go for a tinkle 2 or 3 times during the match. Give me kids and mums anytime.

each to their own of course , tbf I had a nice chat with a Southampton based Man U fan behind me that came with his mate to see the stadium.

he said crap atmosphere not realising the irony in him being there .

my 7 yo asked me why it was quiet as well

personally prefer a bit more passion and atmosphere myself but I get your point. I’m usualy down in 250 and the tinklers can get a bit tedious

I don’t subscribe to the theory Conte doesn’t play young players, but it certainly takes a lot for them to be trusted by Conte. And let’s be fair Gil and Sarr would not be getting the minutes they are now if we didn’t suffer numerous injuries in the forward and CM positions. But they have taken their chances and performed and that’s great news for everyone….

I'm with you on this. Perfect match to bring the kids (no toxicity). Two in front of me 4 & 6 maybe, decked out in full kit and one next door but one maybe 7? 4 year old kept shouting "YID ARMYYY!" and the 7 year old responded everytime!

If you don't bring the kids, where are we going to get our support from when us grumpy old fvckers shuffle off?

Yesterday, was the perfect opportunity for a new generation of fans to attend a match and priced accordingly to encourage it with the family packages.

Whilst my 6 year old son has a Season Ticket since the start of last season, yesterday we were able to bring his 2 best friends along to their first ever match. The price of 7 (4 adult and 3 kids) tickets wasn’t a great deal more than 1 Cat A seat in my usual seat.

Seeing 3 best mate having the time of lives, with a shared memory of the match. Seeing Spurs win and Harry Kane score was the icing for them.

It gave me an opportunity to watch from a different area too, Block 251.

Quality mate

My nephews all had cup games for their first games and they all remember them fondly
My kids have also only been to cup games apart from one league game at Wembley

these games plant the seeds for the future

How about we had two first 11 players starting?

Literally -> Lloris, Perisic, Lenglet, Dier, Romero, Doherty, PEH, Bentancur, Deki, all didn't play, some weren't even bench options.

Would hope Conte continues with second stringers against Preston.
I know he scored but I think its in matches like this where Kane needs to be rested.
we are lacking options but imagine if he rolls his ankle in one of these early cup ties and richy is still not ready.

This may already have been covered, but we've seen how much we can struggle in this kind of game when making a lot of changes often enough in recent (and previous) seasons.

Was at home, League One opposition. But compared to some really dodgy performances in the past this was definitely a step in the right direction.

It was a great day for me… first time I have been with the whole family, wife, three adult children and me and all for under a £100! My wife even enjoyed it which is great as it’s taken me 25 years to get her to go to Spurs. Atmosphere was muted but great to see so many women and children there… very sensible ticket prices for which the club should be applauded
