*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest ***

No. Even under Mourinho they were allowed to play forward with (some) freedom, at least until we had the lead. You can clearly see they look shackled now. Spence was visibly keen to just burst into the box with the ball and try to make something happen, but it looked like he thought
'uhhh, I'm not supposed to do that, so I better turn back and pass where I'm told to pass.'

It wasn't freedom with jose, it was more like hope.

I just cannot understand the team he picked tonight. People (here and media) saying he picked strongest side.

That simply cannot be the case when you pick one attacking player. Absolute dross imo. It was the perfect night to play Gil snd Spence. Why not do it? Both play on the front foot - is that what scares Conte?

it's a strong side because of the names, and how many league and CL games they have started

Yeah I get it. I'd love a cup final and a trophy but, to be honest, I got little out of the 1999 and 2008 wins and they did next to nothing for us. So I won't lose much sleep over tonight. We've as much chance of winning the FA Cup.
Maybe more as by next year teams will be drained and in some cases ,down to the bare bones. All the top teams rest players for the fa cup now , as much or more so than the carabou cup.
The goons had to beat Villa and Hull in fa cup finals.
This result might do us a favour long term n more ways than one as surely Levy will be properly loosening the purse strings in January.

Serious question…. Why was sessegnon getting the blame for the second goal in Twitter? I didn’t watch the game and have only seen the goals

Ah well, I enjoyed that final against Chelsea it was a great day out and feeling. We are the only club of the ‘big 6’ that doesn’t win anything and if we truly want to be seen as a big club you have to win trophies. I can’t think of any other big club that doesn’t?
The big teams play more reserves and kids in the league cup than the FA Cup other than the semi final and final so this is our best chance. Unless you mean we have zero chance in the FA Cup aswell, then I agree! Disappointing night….
Big 7 , Saudi Sportswashing Machine will probably win something before us and take our "top four" trophy.

Woolwich had a reasonably strong side out tonight and brought on a lot of first team players and lost at home to Brighton. This was also their best chance of a trophy.
They are not prioritising this cup though. We did tonight. Arsenal wanted to go out , we didn't.
Artetas words at the end of the interview tonight : " it's back to the PL on the weekend which is our priority "

Probably because he lost the ball easily, then didn't really challenge back and then the cross for the goal came from his side.

Exactly. No comparison. No real shame for them (unlike us)

I haven't seen any of the game tonight and am only going on comments on here....

The result is terrible and it seems so was the performance....yet again.

Without swearing profusely I cannot even attempt to describe how I feel about my beloved club... I am not saying I want Conte out but if he leaves tomorrow I won't be sad...

On the plus side , 'er indoors has 'given permission' for us both to go to Milan for the champions league game in February so looking forward to that....

COYS

wasted a good chance to give minutes to fringe players and test out young ones.
bad call by conte if can't judge fatigue levels of players and/or our chances of beating a second-string, bottom placed forest.

its such decisions that keep wondering if conte is shackled in any way. For instance, he mentions Kane played all games but he still starts? Not getting players he wants hence keep playing square pegs in round holes to prove a point?

Quite sure that Levy has a gag order on managers - JM aluded to that when he talked about Levy and failed promises, hopefully there is some sort of limitation so we can finally hear the truth about what goes on behind closed doors - things don't add up and Levy is a constant!

We lost a game! Shows you how far we’ve come that there is a inquest each time we do.

first half I thought we were ontop, by forest sat back and packed the area. We must have had 10 corners or thereabouts.

Second half, for the first time, I watched something else and left the game on in the background.

But it is just a loss in the crap cup. Anyone would think we’ve been winning title and cups every year from the comments on here.

Conte said he needed time and from where we were under Poch, Nuno, Mourinho we are a better outfit. I see improvements in our passing, our midfield and our squad. To be in the CL and around the top 4 while we have injuries to key players is an under appreciated feat.

The problem is shipping goals. We are trying to transition to a more front foot side, but we leave ourselves more exposed and keep shipping 2 goals. Hard to win games if you let 2 in. Some upgrades to the back 5 and some players back from injury and we’ll come together again.

To progress and be a more balanced side we have to go through this stage where we’re conceding too many goals. Ultimately I like our direction of travel and can see development even if it is 2 steps forward and 1 back

Rubbish.
@thfcsteff said he was going to this game, which is a huuuuge effort from LA.
I wouldn't travel 10 miles to see this current performance level.
I wonder how he feels, and whether he can defend Conte and Dier tonight.

Not from LA mate. NorCal. In non-covid years I get to approx 8-10 a season home & away. Conte has his reasons I am sure. Dier? What did he do to offend people tonight then, other than being on the pitch? I don't understand what he did to irk you? As for defending him, listen to he forthcoming pod and all will be revealed.

Another away trek that I wish I hadn’t bothered with.

I think we are the most cowardly team in the PL and probably quite a long way beyond. So many defensive players in our team compounded further by them being given such little license to go forward until we’re 2-0 down. The manager needs to rethink his tactics IMO.

Sess was shocking.
Sanchez has just lost all confidence whatsoever.
And yes, within any system/automation, players have the option to express themselves, to push. There was a moment midway through first half when Sess received the ball with literally the whole flank open. He took three steps forward, saw no immediate movement, checked back and
squared 5 yards. The total lack of courage to BE a difference maker, to GET movement by moving, was shocking. Even I raised my voice at that!
