Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

I would say that Kane's return of 10 goals in 13 games would mean he was involved in the discussion. We've not really got going this season, but without Kane we would be languishing in 10th or worse right now.

hard to say, it’s not vintage Kane goals imo, a lot of tap ins, that an alternative striker may have scored, or not of course, may even have scored more, his conversion rate is down this season

he’s not stood out for me, whereas PEH and Dier have

Have to be honest, whatever anyone thinks of PEH, if I was heading into the trenches I'd want him to be with me. He has a pair of balls bigger than his head. At times last night I was looking at him and Perisic particularly and thinking "we might just be alright here".

Could not agree more, players like him do not always stand out but what he brings to our M/F is so important. He and Bentacur are a great pairing and do so much work for us both on and off the ball.

It feels like PEH hasn’t stopped playing since he joined us. He has to be tired and sometimes he visibly looks shattered but he gets up and down the pitch for the whole game, every game. It just felt right that it was him there to finish it off last night. Sure he has some limitations but I’ve given up wanting him to be something he’s not and just appreciate what he gives us.

It's not down. It's 29% according to the bbc. I believe last season it was about 25%. Sons was in the 30s. Dunno about this season.

Suspect there's a bit of talking at cross-purposes going on here. Goals-per-game versus the rate of conversion of chances.

Everyone agrees his goals per games are very good this season. Baleforce criticised his conversion rate. Saying it had gone down. I disagreed.

Tbf we really shouldn't be talking about this in the hojbjerg thread.

Yes I'm guessing Baleforce was confusing Kane's goals-per-game stats with his rate of chance conversion.

Definitely.

Great to see him add some goals to his game. The way he struck that winner against Marseille must surely give him and everyone belief that he can produce more telling moments.

He will never be silky like Bentancur, but he adds so much to our team and if it's not obvious why Conte keeps trusting him I think perhaps it never will be.

To me at least a big game player too. He's someone you can trust as the stakes rise, just about every single time. Can only hope we sign more players with his kind of mentality and attitude.

Like Skipp, I thought he was also decent yesterday but I've brought this up before and I feel the need to bring it up again: he moves his arms too much when he should be moving his legs instead. We already have one overly-animated manager constantly barking instructions throughout the match... do we really need another one trying to orchestrate what other players should be doing?

His range of passing can be good at times with nice diagonal balls to switch the direction of attack, wished he showed more consistency there but I do think that's an underrated aspect of his play. Again, think he'd be a much better player if he just focused on what he needs to do for the team instead of trying to direct traffic.

So he wins Danish Player of the Year, Kulu win Swedish Player of the Year, Sarr wins African Young Player, we also have one of the very best strikers in world football, arguably the best player in Asia, despite his recent poor form, Brazil's number 9, a world cup winning central defender, a former world cup winner and a recent world cup finalist in goal but we are still nowhere near challenging for trophies.

Nobody is near challenging for trophies unless you are in a final or very near top of the league.

But we play a formation where wingback are crucial for creativity and attacking threat...and ours aren't consistently of the right standard
