PC Simon Harwood not guilty

I tend to agree. But you do know if someone makes a complaint it stays on your record, even if the complaint is dismissed. The main people who make complaints are criminals.

I know what you mean, but it's the regularity, nature, similarity and his evasive behaviour to avoid consequences which leads me to believe that the smoke is coming from a bonfire and not a cheeky cigarette!

Should never have been allowed to rejoin the police after retiring on ill health grounds wink wink!

Definitely. I'm just pointing it out as my mate is a cop and he gets complaints from scum all the time. They know their rights and they do complain. And each complaint is investigated and it stays on your record. And then people say there's no smoke without fire!! :)

Where's the baton?

He's talking, didn't hit his head.

The coroner couldn't conclude he died as a result of his injuries.

My mistake. That video does not show the baton. A clip from another angle shown on the news tonight on various channels highlights the baton.

The coroner in the case is a tricky customer also. He has been reprimanded for negligence and releasing details of previous cases.

As someone who posted a comment on the video rightly points out, if it had been the other way round, Ian Tomlinson woould have been sent down for it.

I had a mate who's dad was a pig when I was a kid remember he used to always moan about 'scum' making complaints against him etc didn't make him innocent tho got chucked out the force after getting caught roughing someone up in their cell. Totally provoked etc

I'm not one of those people who hate the police. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for most of them, but it's the thuggish ones who abuse the power they have and take the law into their own hands that tinkle me off. And the worst thing about it is, we have to bend over and take it. Nothing will be done about it as this case reminded us.

Whether I use the word pig or not it doesn't hide the fact that mr harwood was quite obviously on a power trip to head rampage that day bowling about pushing people simply filming and trying to help others.
Murder? No
Manslaughter? Possibly
Questions not only need to be asked about day in question but more importantly how an individual with so many accusations against him over lashing out and violence towards people was allowed to become a 'riot policeman' where he'd be on the front line dealing with people face to face with a baton in their hand.

Think this case sums the British justice system up nicely was only a few months ago a few on here were laughing about a young lad banged up for two years for waving his arms about and goading some Brighton 'fans'.

As for my hatred for the police I don't apologise for it I have my reason all in all they do a good job but in my experience a few bad eggs have done far too much for me to ever trust them as an origination again.

This may very well be a bad cop making another stupid decision, but I know if I was faced with protestors behaving like people do at these events, I would not put up with anyone's brick either.

One thing that annoys me is people who think all cops are corrupt and out to get them. It's laughable.

Agreed, but Ian Tomlinson was walking in front of PC Harwood with his hands in his pockets posing no threat. At worst, you could say he was bein a nuisance, no reason to hit him and push him to the ground.

Why does it annoy you? Cos you've never experienced it? I was bullied on a near daily basis by a certain **** of a policeman and his mate who would stop and search me on a near daily basis when I was 14/15/16. Walking home from school I could almost guarantee id see the **** somewhere on route home all I ever got was paddy this paddy that what you doing intimidating stuff for a young lad minding his own business. Sorry if I'm paranoid or got a chip on my shoulder but when you make official complaints down the local nick and your dads as good as laughed in the face over it you're gonna have a negative attitude of them

Wasn't anything again your personal experiences, I've no right to judge your point of view based on those. My main gripe is with a widespread view that EVERY cop is just out to beat people for no reason. I don't believe it happens in this day and age.

I thought it was known at the time he was hit with a baton. Can't believe now people are denying that happened.
