Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

Moses is crap, He had a couple of good games for Wigan last year when everybody noticed how good they were playing yet they ignored around the other 30 games where he was pretty brick along with Martinez and Wigan.
 
If we can't for some reason get Adebayor I would definitely take Berbatov back... The reason he isn't playing for Utd is because they have several young and exciting players to play instead of him. He was top scorer a couple of years ago.

Both of them would be a bad idea though.

i can't see AVB being too much of a fan of Berbatov to be quite honest - Redknapp would have been more likely to resign him and any hope (or fear depending on how you view it) that we would resign him left with him

I expect they are looking to phase out Malouda and Benayoun in the near future, quite possibly this summer and with the sale of Drogba and Sturridge's dislike for playing on the right, his more logical place in the squad seems to be as back-up to Torres. Mata could well be used behind the striker in some, if not most games and Marin might also see minutes in the middle. De Bruyne probably wouldn't be expected to play too many big games for a couple of years.

Abramovich also seems to be taking renewed delight in going on a spending spree...

True, but he would be a reliable, quality alternative to Ade available relatively cheaply with plenty of experience in England. He is also a bit older which makes him perfect to be understudied by someone a bit younger.

Would much rather we signed Ade permanently though.

Signing a new manager and two players does not make us close to Man U. Come on. Let's not get too full of ourselves just yet.

Adebayor: "It should happen. He likes it here. There really is a great team spirit. It's true that a large slice of his wages go to his charity in Togo to help disabled people find work."


Caulker: "We have high hopes. Class act. Came through late but has got big potential. Quiet but leads by example. Scum came in for him after Youth Cup game couple of seasons back but were rebuffed."


VDV: "We've made lots of efforts to land Sylvie with some TV work over here since arriving, but without success. Feeling here is that he doesn't want to go, but while she was initially ok with the traveling to and fro, we're not sure she is now."


Gomes: "Tony Parkes rates him as the best keeper at the club. Waiting to see what AVB thinks. Club looking at two other keepers, one in UK, one overseas."


AVB: "Lads being called in for double sessions. Training under HR was very old school but a lot of fun. Going to be very different from now on. We'll see what they think of that. Whether he succeeds is mainly a matter of whether our players can buy into his training and tactical ideas. We don't have the massive egos that CFC do which should help."


Bale: "Has physically developed even more. He's a beast, but does have problems with niggling injuries."


Sandro: "Still doesn't speak very good English. He is far and away our fittest player."


Bentley/Jenas: "Exploring the idea of a new deal. We want to get something back from our 16m. Did the same with Jenas and would sell him in a heartbeat for a decent offer."


Gallas: "Popular and well respected, has a year on his deal and we wouldn't be unhappy if he saw it out."

Oscar: "A bid is not the same thing as a completed transfer. Takes three sides - both clubs and the player - to agree to a deal."


Investment: "We always listen to offers for investment, whether that be minority or majority, and evaluate them against the specific parameters that DL/JL have for what they want. Europa League: "If we'd finished sixth we'd agreed to play the home leg of the Qualifying Round in August at Ipswich Town, due to the Olympics."

Transfers: "Lots of clubs interested in lots of our players, including many we'd like shot of. We've baited our rod to try and catch some big fish. Individually none are more than 50/50 but we have some confidence that we can get at least one of them to bite. It's not easy though competing with the financial resources of some other clubs."

Chelsea have had an offer in excess of £16m for the Germany winger Andre Schürrle rejected by Bayer Leverkusen, according to the German newspaper Express.

"We were presented with a very concrete offer from Chelsea for Andre of beyond the €20m mark. The sum was pushed back and forth between the two clubs. We ultimately chose Andre," the Leverkusen chief executive, Wolfgang Holzhauser, was quoted as saying by German news agency SID.

"Andre is very valuable for us. He has also made it clear he would like to stay with us."

The 21-year-old has established himself as one of Germany's most exciting young talents since joining Leverkusen from Mainz last year and won his 16th cap for Germany at Euro 2012, where he impressed in the quarter-final win over Greece.
 
Berbatov signing:

Pros: Uber-cool, holds ball up really well.
Cons: Languid aka lazy, sulks, left us for Man U bench.
