Coronavirus

I don’t know why they are contemplating preventing people from exercising when it’s the groups collecting at beaches, parks, etc that are the problem.

People exercising should be encouraged to do so. Those with the power to control the public should spend more time at the places outlined above, as the photos taken there this weekend suggest little action is being taken around these apparent social gatherings.

Because the more you travel around, the more people you risk coming into contact with, the more risk of contracting/passing on the virus. Social distancing in itself isn't actually enough. It's a rule put in place to avoid a total lockdown, but it doesn't prevent the virus being picked up from a common surface (eg. petrol pump, assuming she drove and would have needed fuel at some point), and likely doesn't prevent airborne particles being passed on (would need to be more than 2m apart).
And not least of course she's the CMO telling people not to travel. Therefore she needs to demonstrate she can follow her own instructions or why should anyone else?

Yeh suppose, I get the severity but if I have house A and House B and I go from one to another without contact on leaving my car the risk is minimal.

You’re increasing the frequency you need to get petrol and either pick up or pass on the virus at the pumps (virus hot spot).

You could already have the virus and be taking it to the location of your second home, you’ll need to go to the local shop there as well, further spreading it.

Just two reasons off the top of my head.

I think it's got far more to do with the optics of her behaviour than any specific direct or local risk it may have posed.

If the population at large are being asked not to do this kind of thing, that does include her.

I cycled along to Brighton marina and back today. Only stopped to do some stretching as my calf is on fire due to the excessive cycling i have done.

Saw 3 lots of two police officers along hove lawns and by the pier. Most people were being sensible and just exercising.

The was a group of 8 men in their late 20s cycling over Shoreham-By-Sea footbridge who stopped because one had a puncture. Due to having had the virus and recovered i felt comfortable stopping and asking them if they all lived together.

Big guy out front in the pink t shirt to show off his metrosexual tendencies asked me what fcuking business it was of mine.

Called him a fcuking parasite and a few people passing by agreed with me.

As we cycled off my lad just said "your never change will you" to fcuking right i wont as long as the is air in my fcuking lungs.

Think that makes sense.

It's easy to think the police have their hands full, but with everyone on lockdown I'd say their usual workload has massively eased, therefore allowing them to police hot spot areas where people are attracted to visit. Parks, open spaces need to stay open as long as everyone behaves. Police being there will encourage that, plus punish clams that think they're above everything.

What a turd

Police have issued a warning to Scotland's chief medical officer for visiting her second home in Fife during the coronavirus lockdown.

Dr Catherine Calderwood has been heavily criticised after pictures of her family trip to Earlsferry were published in The Scottish Sun.

She apologised "unreservedly" and said she would continue to focus on her job.

The high-profile medic has been among those urging the public to stay at home to save lives and protect the NHS.

Some MSPs have said her position is "untenable" but the first minister said Dr Calderwood's advice and expertise were "invaluable".

She will remain in her role but step out of the public eye, no longer attending the daily press conferences

Because this govt likes everything to be "in the name of the people" so they can reduce the PR hit.

Higher punitive measures are fair but look bad.
Total lockdown because some people are tacos is "our fault". The downside of "community" I guess.
This govt lack the balls to govern.
But are good at electioneering.

You also run the risk of crashing your car and taking up valuable medical resources getting fixed up (if serious)
