Danny Rose

August 2017 "I am reaching my peak and have probably only got one big contract left in me," the England defender told the Sun.

"Time is running out and I do want to win trophies. I don't want to play football for 15 years and not have one trophy or one medal.

I will say this too, I will play up north. I don't know exactly when but I will get back up north and play some football somewhere.

I know my worth and I will make sure I get what I am worth. I don't know how much longer I might have at this level.”

Same with Eriksen, if they had knuckled down and done what was best for the team, they might both have a CL winners medal.

Not sure why we have kept Rose until now. Ever since Walker left us to join ManCity, Rose has made it clear he wanted out as well. Pochettino has to take the blame for not replacing players like Eriksen and Rose who don't want to play for us anymore.

And the stupid thing is, all Rose's media guff has damaged his earnings and potential in the game. There wasn't much between Walker and Rose in ability. Rose probably has more bite and determination, Walker more pace. The reason Walker is earning a tonne of cash and picking up medals is because he gives the impression of an easy to work with team player.

Can't believe how badly Rose has been advised. He needed representation that did the talking for him, while he focused on his football. If he'd done that he'd be at the top now, rather than bitter and stuck. No one wins.

He was happy to sell them for two summers. I'm not sure that you can place the blame at Poch.

It's a difficult one. Stability vs refreshing. Pre-Poch, we were cashing out on players, and the team would suffer as we lost senior settled players. Now things have switched the other way - why didn't we get Coutinho money for Eriksen and Rose and reinvest as pool have done so successfully?

The truth is somewhere in between. we didn't reinvest the Bale money that successfully, and the likes of pool maintain a settled team. Coutinho an expectation to the rule - massive money for a very good but not sensational player.

I think the stadium move was part of the problem and for about the first time ever Levy allowed a couple to contracts to run as to bring in equivalent proven quality at the time would have been beyond our wage structure during the build. Plus the income would have been swallowed by the stadium costs.
I don’t see it happening again, the double burn with Eriksen was his decline in performance during the last 18 months.

Can’t think why we wouldn’t offer a new contract to a player pushing 30 who constantly makes bad decisions on and off the pitch. It makes no sense.
I don’t want us to offer him a new contract. I just don’t want our chairman telling him telling him he’s not getting a new one when he still has 2 years left on his existing contract.

That relies on Levy selling those players though.
