Redknapp

No I picked it up from Steff too (who knows his stuff on things like this), and have since seen more details in other places.

She has been quite seriously ill for a while, and apparently died yesterday.
Very sad. May she rest in peace.

All of which makes Redknapp's outburst all the more alarming. Can only assume he too was oblivious to the reason for Levy's absence. No way would he have gone public like that otherwise, he always puts across what a caring sensitive soul he is.

Looks like Harry's gonna have to eat some humble pie big time.

Just because this has just been released in the media doesn't mean Redknapp has literally just said all this. Could be from days ago, even rehashed quotes etc I've read him talking similarly about this subject before.....

Because people acting like he's the second coming of Messiah isn't tiresome; I haven't seen him walking on water or doing anything close to a miracle during his time here.
...inwardly they are ravening wolves.

I haven't seen anyone who wants Redknapp to stay claim that he is faultless

It was a live interview (on Talksport I think) this afternoon.

IMO it's pretty much sackable behaviour in itself.

Be surprised if it was that old, but would certainly explain the bad timing.

The sky sports mobile app currently has an article about redknapp's future, and its title is:

'Harry sort my furure'

They couldnt not be more accurate :ross:

Why didn't you come begging for a new contract back in February before Roy took over you dream job?

Where the fudge were these quotes back then? Or your pals in the media asking these very same questions about the contract?

Why didn't you say you wanted to stay 'at the good club Tottenham' back then?

1 year - prove how much you like it

Why would you beg for a contract knowing the England job was vacant? Can't blame the guy for wanting the job can you?

And everyone seeks job security, letting his contract run into final year is very dangerous unless of course Levy wants rid anyway. If another club comes in offering a 3 year deal would you blame Redknapp for leaving and call him disloyal?

He could have still went on about the England job in a far more subtle and less distracting way - see Roy Hodgson for example

Why should we settle for second best when clearly it seems he would have dropped us for Enlgand back then and refused to comitt?

"I think it's overrated what people say about Champions League football and whatever," he told Sky Sports News.

"People would have still gone to Chelsea if they hadn't won the Champions League this year because they know it's a club that's looking to get into the Champions League positions next year.

"They pay fantastic money. If you pay players enough money and you give them good enough contracts and you show that you're ambitious, they'll come to your club.

"Champions League football, because you don't make it one year - it's one year. I think that's an excuse for players who want to leave and get better contracts elsewhere. I don't see that as a real problem.

"I think if the contract's right and they earn enough money, Premier League football is big enough."

Spurs midfielder Steve Pienaar has spent the season on loan at Everton and Redknapp believes the South African will want to stay at Goodison Park.

He added: "Steven Pienaar is a good player. I would think in all honestly he's going to want to stay at Everton. He seems to have produced his best form there. He was unlucky at Tottenham.

"He's a good player, a very very good player. It's just I had Gareth Bale playing on the left-hand side and you can't dislodge Gareth Bale. He's one of the best left-sided players in the world, without a shadow of a doubt.

"If he's going to want to stay at Everton and Everton want him then obviously the deal is going to have to be right for Tottenham, otherwise he comes back to Tottenham."
Mulumbu

Tottenham have been linked with a move for West Brom midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu but Redknapp insists he is not on the club's radar.

"I don't really know where that's come from, to be perfectly honest," he said. "That's certainly not something that I've discussed with the chairman at any time.

"He's a good player, for sure, but he's certainly not a player we've spoken about."

I've got two ideas after reading that.

Fook off to manage Chelsea* then you qunt where everything about football is morally brick

Or its a come and get me Abramovich cluster fudge plea

Either way... IMO he's got a week, 2 weeks max now.

He was at a charity golf day so was a brief interview, not a major sit down

Was the charity golf day up North? Because I am telling you, I was in the British Airways Club lounge in T5 at noon today and he was on the fudging phone 10ft from me!!!! The departures lounge that is.

To me what he said to the media never bothered me regarding the England job, he was just his typical open self and I never saw him say 'If offered the job I will leave Spurs', only that it was a massive honour to be England manager and that he hadn't been contacted by anyone. Hodgson was barely asked any questions because noone really thought he was in with a decent shout.

If there is a better available manager out there then by all means lets hope Levy gets him because Redknapp won't be short of offers.....

Because Levy is in America burying his mum.

Any decent human being would stop all the political games and at least hold their peace for a week.

100%. He's stayed silent since Munich and chooses today to come out and start blabbering? What a trumper! Why can't he just ONCE admit that it is DISAPPOINTING we allowed 3rd to slip, that he is disappointed in himself over the final few months of the season? Instead he basically says that not giving him the contract he wants is going to unsettle players, etc, etc, Harry Harry Harry, look what I've done, look what "you" were before I rode in and saved the day.

Even his biggest defenders would have to wonder WHY he chooses TODAY to come flying out of the traps, a day when Daniel Levy isn't around to comment, a week when Daniel Levy is dealing with the passing of his mother.

Hope you're proud of yourself Harry...you know, when I saw him earlier today, I thought for a second about approaching him, but realized I had absolutely nothing positive to say so thought better of it. I DESPERATELY wanted to ask him why he went 4-4-2 at the emirates, why he threw the towel in that day, but again, I remembered I am 45 not 15...

p.s. I have at least figured out that he would've been flying to Saudi Sportswashing Machine for this golf tournament tomm...

I watched it in horror on SSN earlier this afternoon, definitely seemed like it was today.

In horror?

Who are you Julian Clary?

FFS, he's asked a question and has given a balanced and honest answer, Levy's mother popping her clogs doesn't make any feckin difference to what he said.

Some of you guys need to get real.

Harry Redknapp has armed himself with Wayne Rooney's agent as he enters a crucial period in his negotiations over his Tottenham future.

Spurs are refusing to rush discussions with their manager, who is entering the final year of his deal at White Hart Lane, but will meet with Paul Stretford this week.

Stretford, who is renowned as a hard negotiator, was a major influence in Rooney's battle with United in 2010 when the striker handed in a transfer request.

The relationship between Redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy is said to have been soured by the links to the England vacancy towards the end of last season and Tottenham’s subsequent slump that saw them lose out to rivals Arsenal in the fight for a Champions League place.

And with Redknapp now 65 years old, some of those on the Tottenham board believe it is worthwhile looking beyond the end of next season.

Redknapp returned from holiday in Dubai seeking assurances the Spurs board will back him in the transfer market this summer after he was linked with the Liverpool job, a position which was subsequently filled by Brendan Rodgers.

He has also been linked with a lucrative move to the Middle East with a consortium believed to be putting together a financial package to try and tempt him to a job in Qatar.

The Spurs boss was sounded out by a club in the Middle East last year, and it is believed they have come back in for him as they feel they may now be able to lure him away from Spurs.

Redknapp's future is also linked closely to that of star players Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, both of whom will be discussed at meetings this week.
