ARSENAL, SPURS TARGET WHO WENT HIS OWN WAY

Norwich right-back Max Aarons had big clubs ringing him "every day" in the summer and the January transfer window has brought more interest from Tottenham, Arsenal, West Ham, Everton and others, but his route to the top was an unconventional one.

Find out how a player who spent two years without a club not so long ago has gone on to become one of the Premier League's most exciting and in-demand full-backs.

Chelsea offered Lemar
Chelsea could steal in on Atletico Madrid star Thomas Lemar.

The Frenchman is likely to be able to leave Atletico this month, with the La Liga side open to a loan deal.

Arsenal and Tottenham have both been long-term admirers of Lemar.

But the Standard reports Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign him as a cheaper alternative to Wilfried Zaha.

Tottenham keeping tabs on Middlesbrough's teenage defender Djed Spence
EXCLUSIVE

Tottenham have identified Middlesbrough’s teenage right-back Djed Spence as a possible future signing.

The 19-year-old recently broke into the first team at Riverside Stadium and was part of the Boro side that drew 1-1 with Spurs in last weekend’s FA Cup third round.

Standard Sport understands Jose Mourinho made a point of congratulating Spence on his performance once the players left the field, having been impressed by the youngster’s display.

Spence has 18 months left on a youth-team contract but Middlesbrough are desperate to tie him to a new and improved deal.

It is believed they are willing to offer him a five-year contract but no agreement has yet been reached, although talks are ongoing.

Spurs are tracking Spence with Mourinho a long-term admirer having kept tabs on the defender since his release from Fulham, where the youngster was part of an academy set-up also containing the Tottenham boss’ son, Jose Mourinho Jr.

Mourinho Jr was a goalkeeper at Fulham until his contract was terminated by mutual consent in 2017 and is believed to have spoken highly of Spence.

Mourinho also used Fulham’s training base to prepare for Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final win over Spurs in April 2018, two months before Spence joined Boro.

A right-back with an abundance of pace, Spence has made just nine senior appearances for Middlesbrough, but seven of those have come since December 7.

He also scored his first senior goal in a 1-0 Championship win over Huddersfield on Boxing Day.

Tottenham are in the market for a right-back having failed to secure a deal in the summer due to an inability to find a buyer for Serge Aurier.

Spurs were keen on Napoli’s Elseid Hysaj but with Aurier staying put, then manager Mauricio Pochettino was unable to bring in a replacement.

Hysaj is out of contract this summer and it remains to be seen whether Spurs revive their interest, but the chances of making a move for a full-back this month may increase after Kyle Walker-Peters completes a loan move to Crystal Palace.

According to El Desmarque, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing Samuel Umtiti from Barcelona in the January transfer window.

It has been reported by the Spanish news outlet that Premier League trio Tottenham, Arsenal and United are “pushing hard” to secure the services of the 26-year-old central defender.

The report has claimed that Spanish and European giants Barcelona will accept offers for the France international, who has struggled with fitness issues and poor form since he moved to the Blaugrana from Lyon in 2016.

As reported on Barcelona’s official website, Umtiti has a release clause of €500 million (£424.21m), but it is hard to see any club pay that much money or the Spanish side demand that much to sell the defender.

The France international is a very good central defender, but the 26-year-old has not progressed much during his time at Barcelona so far.

A move to another club, perhaps one in the Premier League, could help rejuvenate the former Lyon star and help him get better.

According to WhoScored, Umititi has played 367 minutes in La Liga and 180 minutes in the Champions League for Barcelona so far this season.

Deals from PL to PL club are gonna be hard to do in the middle of the season. None of the bottom half clubs would risk selling their better players when they could help keep them up and they could just as easy sell in the summer.
Those clubs fighting relegation are out scouting for players in positions where they are weakest, Not out scouting players to replace the positions where players are playing well (even though they probably should). Any of those clubs would say bugger off and come back in the summer once we can sort a replacement!

PS. Leicester seem to be the only club successfully selling for profit and having good scouted replacements lined up right now, One of the reasons for their recent success I would suggest.

So we should just buy Leicester's scouting team
Scouting isn't the issue, we have also identified the same players. It is actually having the will and bravery to complete the deals.

So we should sign their deal completer/chairman instead.

Chelsea have made West Ham defender Issa Diop their primary target and will bid £40m for the 22-year-old Frenchman. (Express)

Chelsea are unlikely to pursue a move for Crystal Palace and Ivory Coast winger Wilfried Zaha because manager Frank Lampard does not see the 27-year-old as the right fit for the squad a genuine target for Spurs. (90min)

Fixed that last one for them.

You mean if he has breasts?

So.

Not. A. Sausage.

Kane out 'til April. Sissoko out 'til March. Rose in the hammock with a book. Winks gimpy. Aurier dropping acid. Eriksen in jog mode 'til, like, whenevvvrrr.

And S.F.A.

To paraphrase Sally Kellerman channelling her inner Keith Burkinshaw: "This isn't a football club. It's an insane asylum."

Some knob head on sky linking us with Giroud, Piatek, Batshuayi and Cenk fecking Tosun! Plus Glenn Murray.

I'd be happy with Glen Murray to be honest. 6 months left on his contract and Brighton don't seem to want him any more. It's the striker equivalent of Ryan Nelson.
