What Eriksen does is help create the triangles between the front four. He moves the ball quickly between them and is probably the most unselfish. In other words he knits the attack together. The only player who moved the ball as quickly and progressively as Eriksen is Ndombele from what I have seen, (although Kane certainly has it in his locker). Lamela is not on the same level as peak Eriksen in terms of knitting the attack together.

La Celso will 100% fill this gap, sort this problem.

There is just a 6 month transition period we all have to live thru.

Also, if you are holding out for a free transfer*, a serious injury now would be catastrophic, hence why Eriksen isn't going anywhere near a tackle.
He is also playing a quick flick pass every time he gets the ball (rather than when he's seen an opportunity and it's warranted), to avoid being clattered - this is why so many of his passes are going astray.
Based on this, he's only going to be productive when the opposition stand off of him. Perhaps coming on as a late sub (e.g. Aston Villa) when the other team are tiring, is our best bet of getting something worthwhile from him?

*are January pre-contracts binding? We may see a better performance from him once he's signed one?

I'm not adding to any narrative.. Not throwing him under the bus is different to blindly failing to admit a clear fact.

Challenging Eriksen to reproduce his best form in public might not be the worst idea right now.

He's run away from the ball several times in the past few months.

A couple times against Liverpool spring to mind: He was 2 yards closer than the nearest Liverpool player but backed off while "jockeying" and literally had to wait 3 or 4 seconds for them to collect it.

Sadly that's not a sign of being rusty...

Edit: Just to avoid being too harsh, he might also be rusty. Which makes this lack of effort all the more obvious as he cannot compensate by putting in good passes etc.

I feel bad for Eriksen. He’s been a good servant, I don’t think he is actively trying to play bad, and if he is recovering from injury, it’s the kind of thing that can give a lot of context to those types of performances.

but damn...the quality of his passing was just a level below N’Dombele and Lo Celso. The pace of it. The awareness, the anticipation. Eriksen has at least had a few weeks of a run in the team to get into some sort of form which just leads me to believe at least in the art of penetrative passing, he isn’t as good. The way the new guys were using the ball was just different class.

and so I feel bad for Eriksen for a different reason too. Because if he doesn’t get back to some sort of form in the next few weeks, I can’t see Madrid offering him big money. He just plainly won’t be good enough.

I’ve never thought they’d want him - nor Barca. He’s a level below those teams imo: in his approach mentally, in his level of consistency and of skill.

His best bet is probably Juve. He’s better than Ramsey, after all.

Why don't you invite him to the dungeon, fit him up with some stockings and toss him into that inflatable swimming pool of custard you kept for special occasions all the while berating him and his thinning hair? I think he needs it and I think it will both toughen him up and get him back on track performance-wise? Come on Chich, stop fudging around and do it. You know I have a point...

In the Spanish or Italian leagues .. with him not being the main focus of the side .. he would do just fine, he'd also pick up more than a few goals.

Today you could see it was just form, ugly form, yet in his worst form he got a goal and got the ball to both Kane and Lo Celso in good positions

Poor form is excusable if when you give the ball away you make an attempt to get it back, he didn't and hasn't for long enough.
It's not poor form it's can't be arsed.
