Good performance on the pitch but the fans sounded abit brick tonight.
That depends where the effects microphones are situated and how high the producer sets the levels for each.
Red Star sounded loud but they only had a few hundred, who were mostly escorted out of the stadium, so how come the producer focused his effects mic on them?

Very very happy with that. Still a long way to go. They gifted us the ball but we worked bloody hard at the same time. Ndombele's quick forward passes are a great thing to have in the locker, Kane looked top class, Sissoko was pretty good bar one or two brain farts. Lamela and Alli also did well. Thought Sanchez was very good although they didn't have much.

Sonny is such a fudging gem. Some of his passing was off but I wish I could bottle the clam and sell him. At one stage we were 3 up and coasting and they broke and he busted a nut and sprinted 30-40 yards to try and win the ball back.

I'm encouraged but Sunday is the test. Do well against the Dippers and maybe I have to re-evaluate my opinion on Poch.

Because it’s 2019 and we live in a environment where they are scared to death that any swearing by the crowd comes across on tv, boxing is the best the daft sods stick a mic in the corner and then spend most of the next round bending over backwards apologising because of the bad language in a corner, it’s the absolute definition of no brick Sherlock, it would have been focused on their fans as 99.9% of the audience could not understand a word their fans were signing.

What to say?

Mostly that its really fudging frustrating that its taken this long to see Poch pull his head out of his ass and do his job.

Im sure there will be plenty who think to the contrary, but I do not consider myself a footballing genius. Im very much an occams razor/KISS principle kind of guy.

So when I can see the problems as clear as day, I dont think I should be one of the sharks on The Chase, I think "Why the hell is the manager missing this?"

What have I been saying all season?
Play a 4231. Not because it has magical properties, but because it suits the squad and they all understand it.
Play Kane up front
Play Alli behind him
Play Son left, NOT up front
If youre going to play Sissoko, make him the DM
We do not need the wantaway players at all
We should promote the young players ahead of the like of Alderweireld.

What does Poch do tonight?

And is it me, or was that our best performance this season?

Gazzanaiga = I like that he tries to catch/control the ball. Not just push it away. Not that he had much to do.
Davies = understated as always, but essential. Better than Rose has been all year in defence and attack.
Vertonghen = classy as always
Sanchez = Alderweireld who?
Aurier = not a complete liability. Probably about as good as he gets really.
Sissoko = with Aurier probably our worst performer, though certainly wasnt "bad"
NDombele = EXCELLENT. I still look at him and see a player who operates deeper ultimately, but no complaints at all today
Son = Class. Took his goals well. Constant threat. Annoying decision making. The usual.
Alli = low key MOTM for me. Thought he was excellent.
Lamela = Best Ive seen him since Leicester. Quality.
Kane = different level.

subs, Foyth, Dier = Nice to see them back. Lo Celso = brief, but fudge me how exciting?

It has to be said, RSB were the ultimate Dr Tottenham, and I think easily the worst team we played all season. It would be interesting to see how well we would have done if there were any competition. Though for the sake of confidence, probably best we didnt find out.

Best bit for me of the day? Clear signs Poch has got hold of the squad and been working with them.

The CBs were a proper unit.
The rotation and interplay of the front 4 was superb, best attacking play Ive seen from us in a year at least.

And the clearest marker? Sissoko. Classic Dier game. Sat deeper near all times, dropped in between the defenders, screened and did his bit.
The most obvious sign of training ground work being done, of focus, design, a plan, and finally some leadership.

Heres to hoping its a sign of the resurgence of Poch, and not just a bump on his road out of the club.

I’m more interested in the team selection and shape on Sunday as well as the next few weeks, if he shows me he has learned he gets my trust back, we have been here before this season after Palace.
