Bale. Could we? Would we? Should we?

I have no issue with him taking the money, nor did I want us to sign him back.

But his choices where to get paid a lot of money and still play professional football, or get paid more than a lot and retire.

also, when you are taking a 50% pay cut on 600k.....

Well the deal is not signed off yet. You never know Bale could take the hit and win the PL and CL with us :) I think people are a little sad that a player still in his pomp, who we know can win games outright, is effectively being retired to China. I understand that. Becuase he is a game changer. Even as a sub and starting half our games he might have been imense for us...or been injured and sulky.

What's the fudging point? Of all the places on earth you could live with 150m (guessing) already in the bank and you go and choose China? £££££££££££$$$$$$$$$$€

Can think of 10 countries I'd rather live in and play football than China.

I could understand if you were a relatively low key player who had a few million in the bank and wanted to earn shed loads but he doesn't really need any more money does he. As spurmeup says he probs didnt have many options but he could have taken a big pay cut and still lived a life of luxury 1000000 times over. It just looks like pure greed IMO. He could easily play in any competitive league in Europe for years.

It's the problem with the majority of footballers and football in general. Too much money, greed and mercenaries that don't give a fudge about playing anymore.

If you looked at Bale today when a reporter tried to speak to him after the atletico game he just walked off and ignored him. Pure arrogance. Footballers think they are the most important people in the world and its a sorry state of affairs I'm afraid. Blame that on the money.
Only he can say that he's earned enough. Why do you think having made £100m is enough? By that token there wouldn't be any billionaires, because once they reached 100m, they'd just stop or work for free.

Plus the guy has won everything there is. It's not like he's missing a major trophy from his collection.

Never won a Ballon d’Or or Premier League nor lead his nation to a European Championship... unlike that Portuguese fella he was supposed to replace at Madrid...

You've just summed it all up fella. Exactly. Now he was and is the Goat. He has done it everywhere he has been. No comparison whatsoever to the welsh man! And didn't go to a mickey mouse league when he was 30 did he. Some people just have a hell of a lot more ambition than others and Gareth has definitely lost the love for that and no one can deny that if he moves to China. He has simply gone for the money you can't say its for footballing reasons.

Maybe it was his only way out if Madrid. We've seen plenty of players go to China for very short periods. I wouldn't be surprised if he moved back to Europe next summer.

Probably, but at present it's still a cop out IMO if he does go to China. He still has a contract so doesn't have to leave Madrid and as someone said earlier, he could go to any club if he made it known he was willing to take a pay cut.

There's no footballing decision here, just £.

I don't think that staying at Madrid was an option. It seems pretty clear that he is unpopular with everyone there.

That just shows the ballon d’or up for the popularity contest it is.

Off the top of my head, Bale, Zlatan and Di Maria have all had worthy years.
