Just watched a 6 episode documentary about the Apollo missions. Great stuff. Considering the technology at the time, it was one hell of an achievement!Rally been enjoying lots of shows on the 50th anniversary of the Moon landings

Who was that loon who bought into all the tinfoil hat stuff that used to post here? This thread would be like Catnip to him - I expect him to drop in any time now to tell us how there's no breeze on the moon and how jet fuel can't melt steel.
Indeed.Gifter was not a loon but highlyintelligentgullible.

He was always entertaining, I'll give him thatWas in my top 5 of all time posters. Thought he was a really sound guy and a good read.
I'm always left wondering why nobody has been back to the moon since 1972 and why the Russians didn't land there.
Bond wrecked it in diamonds are forever. They moved the set they used.
Why risk putting people up there? Computers are more capable, more reliable and arguably more replaceable.I'm always left wondering why nobody has been back to the moon since 1972 and why the Russians didn't land there.
Also, what's the point? It's very very expensive, it's still involves a great deal of risk, and achieves very little. Why risk putting people up there? Computers are more capable, more reliable and arguably more replaceable.

I think NASA have been fairly open about their reduction in manned missions wherever possible due to the huge expense of it.!!!!!!!! We're talking about USA here, when did they ever care about risking people if there's a buck in it. I could understand if there was no financial benefit in the project but that would mean someone admitting that was the case.
