The glorious march to CL qualification

If you have to bring on Lamela and Llorente I’ll stick to threadbare.
We need a Dembele replacement and desperately, did you see the Chelsea game, it was a great example.
Dreadful performance from some.

Strange definition of threadbare in that case.

We need upgrading in several positions but that's a different thing entirely to what you have described (and what i picked up on) which is essentially a squad short in numbers - everyone asides from City have multiple positions they need to upgrade,we're not unique in that.

Lamela along with Moura helped us early in the season (to our best PL start to a campaign?) when our big guns were out, that's what you want from your back ups, Llorente done the same recently when Kane was injured. We're 3rd in the league, having a good campaign despite suffering plenty of injuries to our first choice players and have had to dig deep in to the squad many times to get by - id suggest we wouldnt be close to where we are currently were our options as weak as you seem to think they are.

For a team in the situation we where in, 10 pts clear or whatever, it’s turned into a clustfudge squad wise. I understand the reasons behind it but it’s still very very sad ☹️ to see us hanging on to third now. I really hope we have some of the funds rumoured in the press of late to so spend. I’m far from convinced we will.
This summer ‘I feel’ will be a rerun of the last two windows.
Now I’m ok with that and will have to suck it up! Not sure others will.

What do you mean it has turned in to a clusterfudge squad wise?

Too few of quality imo to come from the bench if we have injuries like we have now. Every team gets injuries I know, but we are running on fumes. We need a lot of ‘fuel’ (money)to get us looking honestly at a title! I’ve enjoyed the season as always, but lets not kid our selves of any real money for a true title tilt.

I think things will improve money wise but I’m allowing a minimum of three seasons, I’m fine with this but, I’m an older fan.

you say too few of quality to come in yet the squad players we are using now are the same ones we have used throughout the season which helped us to get to 3rd in the table and on the verge of a title tilt with two thirds of the season played - that to me suggests you are undervaluing our options. this season we have had to rely on back up options more than any other in our recent history and coincidentally it's looking likely to be our strongest league performance over the same time, if our players in reserve are as poor as you seem to think they are then something doesn't quite add up...

Think we are going to bottle this.

We better hope that we get used to NWHL damn quickly, because I think, we need to win all 5 there + Bournemouth away to stand a chance.

Anfield and Etihad are write-offs for me; dont expect anything from those games.

Said on the betting thread on random how I bet against us getting top 4. The odds are just starting to drift out there as well........

Had the feel of what was coming a month ago, that was not being a pessimistic, the squad is not a happy one. Yes the is some tiredness but they all seem to want someone else to lead. You can see all their levels have dropped a bit because their "saviour" is back. The mindset is all wrong.

The manager has not helped by continuing to allow the narrative that he will be off in the summer so this is our last chance to do anything. So much about the club feels wrong at the moment to me.

Kind of want it to be July already, get the new manager in with a couple of new players, tell him the Europa league is for the reserves for the group stage and start the rebuilding. This era feels like it has come to an end to me.

I know some will say I am knee jerk but I actually find the building stage more fun anyway.

Who’d of thought nil investment and a thin squad that had a majority playing till end of World Cup would be struggling at end of a long season.

A 2nd half reminiscent of the 2-3 Carabao Cup defeat to the Spammers to cap off our worst run of form since we finished 3rd in a 2 horse race  Hopefully the 3 week break will do us some good...

And if we actually lose out on top four, it will be a bottle job. We've made it so so hard for ourselves now.

We weren’t at our best at any point this season, but we were getting results, as soon as we were realistically in the title race, when it was mathematically in our own hands, we completely brick the bed, we’ve been atrocious in all four league games.

The fact that the other two games in that period were a comfortable win and then a bend don’t break performance against Dortmund, suggests to me it’s solely an issue of league pressure.

This squad really are a bunch of bottlers.

Ok, someone cheer me up and tell me how we will still finish top 4. We are dropping points like crazy and still have to play the top 2 away! Anyone think the chasing pack might falter too or are we in for a struggle?

We will get more points than the teams below us. Because of our winning metereollogy. And the classic ‘new stadium bounce’.

5 wins with new stadium bounce. 3 away defeats to city, Liverpool and Bournemouth.

Would that be enough?

I don’t see us losing at Bournemouth but I can see the new stadium working for both teams on the pitch

For one I actually think this break may help

We have so much time the players will have to think about where there at and what they want

United play arse, Chelsea and city
Chelsea play united and city away
Arsenal play united only but have won once away since October

We play teams above us in games were not expected to win so arguably less pressure

We also have 5 homes games

We've already blown it really considering where we were. Confidence shot to fudge and it looks like the manager can't motivate them to have two good halves in the same game.
