Summer 2018 transfer thread

Would prefer dybala

Would need to bid £150m just to get Juve listening.

Higuain would cost around £55m and be an amazing option for when we need to rest Kane or play them both from time to time.

Also he doesn't rely on pace so should get around 4 years of amazing service.

Why would he be anymore successful than Llorente has been? Zero premier league experience too, that's always a concern...

I see Higuain as a fat Journeyman who doesn't really suit our system and is probably looking for a payday.. No thanks

I know you have a fixation with buying young players and selling them for a profit once they realise their potential, but please don't compare a truly world class superstar striker like higuain with llorente or even soldado, who when we signed him still wasn't at the level of higuain.

Fat journeyman? Are you insane !

I do? Says who?

If I was running the club I'd have a fixation on signing players who suit our system, have potential and are motivated, rather than signing them using their pricetag as an absolute measure of their ability.

How often are you moaning at Spurs official Twitter demanding a signing, any signing!?

Lol a fat journeyman, journeyman tend to play for bang average clubs: 107 goals in 190 apps for Real, 71 goals in 104 apps for Napoli and 40 goals in 73 apps for Juve.

I think not....

Upon review journeyman is the wrong phrase, however I do believe there's question marks over his fitness and how he'd go in our high intensity system.

He looked leggy and sluggish in our CL ties and this will only get worse with age.

He's also at a stage in his career where I simply cannot see the outlay of 50-60+ million being sensible for us.

Fair play, and I totally agreed with you regarding him not being someone for our system....

To win the league and CL I think there are 3 types of players the club are looking at.

1. Young players who are fairly raw but with big potential. Grealish probably falls into this category as did Dele at the time we signed him, maybe Eriksen too. We should keep looking to do these deals as they clearly work for us but don't expect instant results and therefore to achieve our aims of winning the league and CL, 2 and 3 are all important.

2. Young players already showing serious ability with huge potential. De ligt, pulisic, Dybala, martial probably all fall into this. The issue is because they are both seriously talented and young, they cost mega money and in many cases the clubs simply won't sell at all.

3. Experienced world class players. Higuain, bale etc. Again mega money required but in many cases not as much as category 2 and results should be pretty instant.

So you will see what should be the key targets for us, will pretty much always cost serious money.

There are exceptions though such as Lucas who in today's market, I would say we got for pretty much half his true value.
