*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Juventus ***

What's funny is that I looked at the benches before the match and thought our options from the bench actually looked better.

I don't know if that is arrogance, ignorance or what but he really turned the game around with his subs and we couldn't respond. Fair play to them.

We didn't respond. Having Wanyama ready to come on for for example, then put him on right away would have helped us closed out the game.

Exactly. And this is why we can’t keep selling our best players. Do we concede those goals with Walker and Toby? I don’t think so. You can talk systems and management all you like but players, ultimately, make the difference.
That second goal made me furious. Dybala literally walked through while we switched off. Fudging lack of concentration when it matters is what costs us. Really disappointed. Bet Poch is furious. Confident he will sort this issue out. I really think the right back position is the weakest at the moment especially with Alderweireld out and Dier a bit meh on the cover.

disappointed with the result but i do not think our plays were bad.

Juve did it right when they changed the right back leading to first goal and made Davies worried about him leading to on-side Dybala's 2nd goal. It happened very fast and manager couldnt fix it.

need to focus to finish top4 now. We need to show that we can go further than this next year.

Allegri took decisive action when things clearly werent working. Poch stood there like a rabbit in the headlights. Difference between top European pedigree and the perennial also-rans

He definitely needs to learn to respond more quickly. i was watching him on the touchline and for 10-15 minutes he looked like he didn't know what to do - and we obviously hadn't covered their formation change in pre-match preparation.

We came out well on top against two recent CL finalists but couldn't beat the third. They should have been down to ten men for the double stamp on Son.

Were they all playing offside bar Davies who played him on? I have to see the replay again to be sure, but I thought I saw Trippier having a go at Davies after the goal telling/asking why he wasn't pushed up.

Really disappointed with the defending of Kieran Trippier and Sanchez. Trippier just watched Dybala waltz past him. In big games like this we need Alderweireld.

Didnot see the game....by the sound of it our full backs were lacking! No Walker runs and I bet rose did not play.
All in all maybe not our best 11 out there?

fudge this noise about defending.

We should've been out of site, but no, our fudging forwards are not clinical enough. We have been wasteful a lot this season and these last two weeks more so.

If we can't learn to rip teams open when presented with the chance then we deserve to get beaten.

A recurring theme. Spurs have plenty of shots dont take their chances. Opposition score from almost every shot on target. And repeat...
Warning signs been there for weeks.

We were lucky it didn’t cost us against Arsenal.

And Huddersfield are just brick

Given the choice, would we have prefered to be beaten by a better side, or to have shown up, played the better and lost, we'd all take the latter. But fuk me its an injustice and so frustrating.

It hurts because it shows we've still not quite moved on, we're still a little naive. It was our game, we didn't take it.

We need to get defensive stability back, with or without Toby.

Ah stop. He wasn’t a rabbit in the headlights. That’s his methodology winning, losing or drawing. Fair enough you can argue it’s wrong but he didn’t bottle it.
People are so keen to make a bigger issue out of something than it really needs to be - it's knockout football, we lost to a good team in a close fought tie and arguably looked the better side

We got done ... let's not overreact here.

Juve are a top team.

I wish people would stop saying this tbh. It doesn't matter if Juve are a top team. We were the better team in both matches. We were the better team over the tie. I would genuinely be less upset if they'd done what bayern do to Arsenal and just beat us 5-1 both legs. Then you say yep, they're a different level and we're out, fair enough, let's not over-react.

But that wasn't the case. We were the better team. And it doesn't matter if we're playing against a mix of Bayern, Juve, Real and Barcelona, if we were the better team, I'd still want and expect us to go through, even if on paper, the other team are better.

We're growing as a team, as a manager but we need to get smarter. We've got quite a few major milestones we still need to overcome. And we need to do them soon. And the reason I say that is that unfortunately I don't think that progress is linear unfortunately. Players will leave, some will lose form, other teams will improve. We need to grab our chance while its here. Ferguson used to say that teams come in cycles and you need to refresh every few years. I just want us to get the maximum out of this team while we still have it.

We have two decent back up right backs currently.
