***OMT: Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool***

Regarding the overall game.

Poch got our early tactics all wrong. We all knew what would happen! are we experts? no! but Poch obviously had belief that we could impose our game on them. I felt from past experience at Anfield last year and the Etihad he would be over that.

Second half Poch changed it up. We dominated them. They were reduced to hacking the ball away. We made their midfield and Defense look like what is is! average at best. Son should have scored.

Wanyama with a Worldy. Surely a goal of the season contender.

Im pleased with the point. At half time I would have taken that all day. Even with our dominance we only had one clear chance as they were forced back and back but we had to be ware of their pace on the counter. 1-1 I would have taken. So overall Im happy and relieved.

Specific Points.

Dier ponders too much on the ball. He does have a good pass, but he needs to see it early or have the time to take it. Poch moved him further on in the second half with dembele doing the covering and it worked.
Alli. 3 yellow cars for simulation. Time to stop it lad.
Klopp. Moaning about Lamela going down easy. When you have players like Salah who go down when know one is around you do not have the right to complain about soft touches. People in glass houses and all that.
The first pen. By the letter of the law its a pen. But I understand their frustration. If it was against us I would be complaining, Lovren only goes for it as he is worried Kane will get it. He tries to clear, messes it up and we get a pen.
Second pen. He goes down easy yes. But he is full on kicked in the back of the calf. Its a pen all day long in this day and age.

Excellent performance
Still 2 point dropped which is sad as we by far the better team!

Pleased to see we are now that much better than even last season!

Yep, definitely offside for the first. He’s off when Alli plays the pass forward, so whether it then comes off a pool player is irrelevant.

Second one all day.

I agree with what you say. But the letter of the law is that until a player touches the ball or goes towards it he is not offside. Lovren tries to play it and so now he is not offside and the second phase begins.

I dont agree with that rule. I understand how liverpool players and supporters will feel. If it was against us I would be miffed. But by the letter of the law its a pen. Lets just say that it was saved and the essence of fair play was done.

But you often see players in offside positions etc, if we call offside every time they lurked behind the line the game would stop all day long. From the position of the Lino he could have been 5 years away from the ball by the time it got anywhere near him. Then Lovren plays it.

That is true actually.

But what this deliberate / non-deliberate playing of the ball that 5 Live were on about.

I thought we played much the same way, tactically, throughout both the first and second halves only we applied ourselves much better in the second - a lot has been said about how we should have gone there and played a counter attacking game, i was of that opinion myself, but ultimately in that second half we took the game to them, dominated and could have come away with a win - not a counter attack in sight...

If the ref gives the free kick for the Liverpool player taking out Son from behind immediately before, he doesn't get the chance to go down.
agree but not the point. Alli even knew he got caught. Im glad he got the yellow. Otherwise he could be facing a retrospective 2 match ban when we need him most.

RAWK using this as evidence that Lamela was offside. Can't they see their own number 26 clearly standing on line with Lamela?! He's got just as much of his torso/upper body over that supposed offside line as Lamela. Ridiculous. Why is the line here drawn where it is on this pic?

The change were subtle but had effect. Maybe Liverpool tired and that helped. But pock removed Dier from in front of the back 4 so he could not get robbed and we played a diamond with Alli at the tip to get him more involved, And also give us more bodies centrally. This also allowed Trippier and Davies to be more free. Home many passes did you see go wide to them and they were free.

They think it hit him. So not an intentional attempt at a pass. But he clearly tries to hack it away and it slices off his shin. So their point is moot.

Fair enough. Feels a bit weird and I think they need to look at that law.

Now Dermot Gallagher is saying Kane was onside by the letter of the law.

I think I disagree with the law as he’s gained an advantage from being in a (technically?) offside position.

Plus you can see Lovrens gloves holding him under his armpit. So its a foul or onside.

yes and again I agree. Other way around I would be tinkled. But the pen was missed. So we can say by the feeling of the game justice was done.
