***OMT: Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool***

This match last season, and away to United, were very disappointing. The team didn’t even turn up. No effort, no fight, just went there and lost. We may as well have called the FA and asked that they simply awarded the other team the 3 points and that we would stay home. Hoping for a lot more today!

Agreed. Same as Arsenal this season. We really need to be "at it" from the first whistle. Another early goal would be a great boost.

What we play on the counter like we did at Wembley?

Whichever style Poch decides to play, the players need to be up for the match from the off. No repeat of some of our more dismal performances with slow tempo and no fight. Newport away, Soton away and Arsenal away, were all totally unacceptable performances. The tone seemed to have been set right from the start in each of those games. We start slowly and we find it very difficult to increase our tempo and passing. We need to counter that by starting at a high tempo from the start.

OK. I think that I understand what you mean. We are just talking about playing well and being on top of our game.

Re-tempo. If we are playing on the break, that necessitates sitting back and absorbing pressure. I assume that you are ok with that, if we play well.

I was reading some reports and interviews with the players that said we would go at them like we did to Man United. I really hope that is Poch telling them to say things like that so that liverpoo set up to push on. The last few years they have flayed us at every opportunity. Our Press vs their press but they have more pace up front and our defenders would get under pressure much easier and more frequently.

To win this game we have to play exactly like we did at Wembley, let them come on to us and hit them with pace and accuracy like we did to Dortmund and to Madrid also. If we press we will leave to much space for Sane and Salah to get us behind th the high line. They are the guys that have scored against us in recent games.

I am prepared to accept the tactic Poch wants to play. Either to sit back and counter or to press high with a high defensive line. Both have their merits. And a mixture of the two will keep the Pool players guessing. Which do you think we employed against United? They also had some pretty quick counter-attacking players in Lukaku, Martial and Lingard. The fact is we won that game by completely controlling the midfield. Dembele had a stormer and Eriksen was simply brilliant. They made Pogba and Matic look second rate all game.

The key thing is that the players play positively and at a high tempo throughout. Of course, it goes without saying that we need to play well.

United and Liverpool are very different teams. What works against one won't necessarily work against the other.

We pressed hard against United, like others, I think that would be a mistake against Liverpool. I would favour playing on the counter, it has been a very effective tactic this season against teams that come at us. I am not sure that I would describe that as starting fast though.

Yep. No high line today, Salah and Mane would have a field day. We'll be well prepared. Son is due a good game, Kane also will be focused. I think Wanyama might start, but is the temptation to keep the same side that looked so good against united?

I fudging hate playing Liverpool at Anfield, we always seem to screw up something there, no matter how well we play. Getting nervous about this, and can't even drink - stupid fudging Sunday games. Goddamnit. 10 second goal, please!

THFC: Lloris (C), Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane

Subs: Vorm, Aurier, Wanyama, Winks, Sissoko, Lamela, Llorente

Liverpool: Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Lovren, Robertson, Can, Henderson, Milner, Mane, Salah, Firmino

Subs: Mignolet, Wijnaldum, Moreno, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ings, Solanke, Matip

Wanyama for Dembele. Trippier - after his best game this season - drops to the bench. More pace from Aurier. But I would have kept Trippier as his brain is quick and he was awesome against united. Different game of course.

Edit: same team! The right move from Poch imo.

Slightly worried about Trippier and Davies, but as you all say, we can't play that suicidally high line today.

Karius in goal for them, he's probably even more brick than Mignolet? Pepper him with shots, please.
