Young players we should look at

I don't believe we need any more young players at this point of the season, we need players who can walk straight into the 1st team and improve it. We have Gray, Bervall, Sarr, Udogie, Katai, Melia, Tel, Odobert, Simons with Lankshear, Ajayi, Yang, Vuscovic, Moore plus others on loan. With Williams-Barnett, Byfield, Thompson, Olusesi in the wings
Id take a 19 YO Udogie clone. But otherwise i agree with your point

another option is to have the winger swap sides from time to time, so the opposition have to reset and reorganise to be lopsided the other way to control Kudus.

All these things take time. Baby steps.

The only exception I'd make is perhaps for a young LB (with Udogie, Spence, VDV, Porro I think we have the first 11 covered)

Keep working the loan program, maybe add Kota & Tel to the ones out on loan, give Moore & Vuscovic (his dad already said something similar) another year out, figure out a way to fast-track Williams- Barnett to senior football.

I'd also tweak current squad to keep a few senior guys who are happy to be part of squad, e.g. Danso, perhaps keep Palhinha and sell Bentancur.

Next two windows should be players who walk into first team.

can we stop looking at young players for a year or so
at least give some time to digest the recent glut of speculative buys
anyhow we aren't competitive and chelsea seems to get the best young ones - like joao pedro and estavao

I agree with your sentiments but we aren't realistically going to sign a top class player who is ready to go right now. So we actually have to keep going for prospects but we need to scout a lot better. The same summer we got Johnson, Palmer went for less, if we are going to go prospecting then that is the field you really want to play in. The players who are at the very of their respective youth levels.

Joao Pedro is 24. He played >100 times for Watford, then >50 times for Brighton, so there was no 'snapping up' of his young talent.

A few potential young players that have caught my eye and a move to Spurs would likely appeal in terms of us being a higher profile club where their wages would jump massively:

1. Said El Mala, 19 year old left winger at FC Koln. Really fast, tall (6'2"), powerful, great dribbler and knows where the goal is. Can play as an attacking midfielder, second striker or a winger. Would seem a 'Frank' type winger in that he is a good dribbler but also explosive and good physically. Even though he is raw and hasn't played many games yet in Germany I suspect he would cost somewhere in the region of £40m

2. Dayann Methalie, 19 year old left back at Toulouse. Really fast, great physicality, loves to get forward, brave. He's one to buy and then loan straight back for at least the rest of this year. Would probably cost £15m - £20m.

3. Kees Smit, 19 year old central midfielder at AZ Alkmaar. Lovely balance, superb first touch, great dribbler and passer of the ball, good positional sense and really press resistant and a progressive carrier and passer of the ball. Good build at around 6'1"/6'2". I think he'd be very expensive though at over £50m - and it might be too late as all the big boys are sniffing.

According to rumours, El Mala is on our radar.

All three should be if Lange is worth his salt…. I know nothing of the Brazilian league though so this Souza chap we’ve been linked with could be a better/similar option to Methalie for similar/less money.

I’ve also seen a few links to Diomande, I think El Mala is a better option and fit, likely at a far lower price too.
