Hmm I dunno, against Bournemouth he had quite a few good moments that involved passes, specifically spreading it and stretching them. Nothing beyond what you would really expect him to be able to do but they were passed into the stride rather than our usual passes into feet.

It wasn't an overall good or great performance but it had some decent indicators.

HE isn not the problem whatsoever for me.
Our ability to actually play a style of football which best uses his skillset i.e. through channels and finding him in pockets where he can attack via channels, is the problem.
Yes, there were some decent indicators that we wanted to play a more offensive game, however again, we are not set-up to utilize a player like him at his best strengths.
 
He absoloutely needs time to settle, he's young and coming from a league that doesn't have the same hustle & bustle as the PL, plenty of players from abroad and Germany struggle to hit the ground running here so no surprise he's treading a similar path - I'm as guilty as anyone wrt digging him out, it comes from a place of frustration - we as a team need consistency from our players right now to help get us out of the bad spot we're in, not his fault but it's the situation he has been put in.

Edit: the manager isn't being cut slack for having a team with a lot of young players in, who will naturally be inconsistent - so it needs to work both ways.

What he showed today in the second half.he needs to bring to the party from the get go. If he does, then we have a serious player on our hands. It cannot happen once every 5 games.
 
Someone else mentioned it in another thread I think but he’s clearly struggling with the physicality of the league. However, the other poster made the point that where some lads like that go hiding, Xavi doesn’t. He’s prepared to take the hits which is massive IMO.

He clearly has bundles of ability. He’s gonna be a great player for us if we keep him/he stays.

He tries to move the ball quickly where it’s possible otherwise he’s also happy to take his man on. Hopefully the fan base will be patient. Likewise with Tel, Odobert and Gray. Lots of responsibility on their young shoulders. Also with Solanke back hopefully we will see less of Richi up front on his own.
 
As others have said, you would have to be fudging blind to not see this kid has something, and importantly, he's got the fight in him as well.

Really need to see a set run of him, Tel, Odobert & Solanke, enough time between the games now, we need to stop the fudging over rotation.
 
I’ve said all along that this is a proper player, a genuine talent, and we are NOT using him to his best talents. Anyone who wrote him off/writes him off is not anyone who I think can spot a great talent!
